I was waiting for this to get released, but, OUCH! Not meaning to sound like a Grinch, but the price (for me) is rather steep considering the times. Looks like I'll be waiting for it to go on sale. I'm in hopes of hearing rave reviews.

I have just purchased it but am really annoyed as the instructions to install are as follows.....

Nemeth Designs Aerospatiale AS350 for FSX installer

This installer is packed with WinRAR. To extract the installer from the RAR archives you have to install WinRAR. You can get it from the following website:

How to extract the installer from the RAR archives:
1. Download all the five RAR files from you account (nd_as350_fsx_final.part1; nd_as350_fsx_final.part2; nd_as350_fsx_final.part3; nd_as350_fsx_final.part4; nd_as350_fsx_final.part5)
2. Download and install WinRAR from the site mentioned above.
3. Put all five RAR files into the same directory.
4. Right click on the first RAR file (nd_as350_fsx_final.part1) and from the dropdown menu select "Extract here" option. This will extract the installer to the directory where the RAR files are located. Note that you don't have to repeat this for all five RAR files, once you chose to extract part1 WinRAR will perform the extraction on all five RAR files.

What a lot of hassle considering the cost.

Hi

Ive only flown it for 10 mins but it appears that the hassle was worth it from what i have seen so far. Could be one of their best.

put it up on their forums and let them know so next time they can learn from this

it sounds like they have learnt from the a109 F### fight with a usable FDEs in this package

im in no rush, i might toss a coin to decide if I get it tonight

from what im seeing around the traps, theres a few having issues with the installer and panel lights

Carbine1
December 25th, 2011, 01:04
Instrument panel light malfunction is very real, Exterior model looks good as does Vc, needs some wear and tear though.

Flight dynamics from what i can work out after a short flight are a fair improvement over the 109 farce.

I am not a painter so cannot comment on the paint kit. Not to mention that i cannot find it either.

Sounds are acceptable for this Helo, some small rotor slap which is nice to hear.

And yes install method is poor for a product in that price range.

All in all though, not a bad Helo.

Cheers.

I fall into the " I use to snap up everything Nemeth put out" but now I am wait and see. Not getting any cheaper but imo not getting any better either.
I just cannot figure out why Dodo is taking so incredibly, agonizingly long. They could have done sold repaints, variants, mods, sceneries......
Yet on the other side of the coin Nemeth use to take time and really were the tops dogs in the wing slinging community.
Not complaining, just thinking out loud but going OT. Coffee mut be kickin in. Good day all.

Because there was no dodo and there weren't these over the top expectations like we have now. I honestly don't see their products taking shorter time, especially with the dodo huey taking how many years so far??

I had an install issue, but it was because of a corrupt/incomplete file. Once I had all the files complete, it went very smooth. I even contacted them on Xmas eve to say I couldn't install and had a response first thing this morning.

Did an hour+ flight this morning before family got here. Love the visual model, nice details, easy on the frames and great VC texturing. On the other hand, I dislike the flight modeling, hard to control and not what I am used to, probably due to the compensation from all the stupid criticism they get from the other models they have. Luckily there is another airfile that comes with it and I'll give that a shot on the next flight. I like the different panels depending on either model (I prefer the B1 panel). Plenty of model variations, although I would have liked a popout floats version.

All in all, for the price you get plenty of models and paints and this is a model I have been wanting for awhile, so I am pleased with my christmas gift to myself and I will gladly pay for the AS355 version if need be!!

Matt, hope you can get over your ire with ND, because I'd love to have some of your paint on this model.

That has been an interesting point, they have made mention of addon packs

Im not sure if they are going to be extra but most proberly will, like captainsim one would guess

They havent disclosed what new models are going to be with the addons so you might see a ff variant

As for joint venture with milviz no it's just nd, which is noticeable in the lacking levels of detail compared to the previous joint packages

I, like you want to spend more time flying Helicopters, which I don’t normally buy or use,but I decided to get the SA350, and it is very nice, though there does seem to be a bit of controversy regarding the flight dynamics. Apparently it includes two different files for you to try (I haven’t checked this yet), and Nemeth are soon to release an upgraded one. It’s looking like the one made by Jeansy is very good.
I should add that I am certainly not an expert on Helicopters (I can never get the bloody things to land where I want them too),so I am relaying on the opinions of members with more experience of them than I
The model of the AS359 is beautifully executed and I’m very pleased with my purchase.

Sorry, I'm looking at where you typed the first time I quoted you. I don't see a thing there until I put my cursor to highlight, copy/paste. Now where you quoted yourself, I do see that. Strange, because I see all the other posts.

Anyway, lets see someone get their creative juices flowing on this heliflopper and create something wild. I'm currently downloading the paint templates to have a peek. Right now, (no offense implied) none of the schemes being done do a thing for me. I like doing RW repaints like anyone. But, they do tend to get boring, if you know what I mean. Here's the way I see repaints. If "I" owned this particular flying machine, How would "I" want it to be remembered? My answer, WHOA!!! Did you see the paint job on the AS350? That thing was ******* bad ass!

I'm on the fence whether or not to buy this dang thing

OleBoy, I jumped into this helo yesterday first because I have always like the AS350, have flown in several over the years and the CHP model is stationed about 2 miles from my home. She looks just like the one from ND. You will not regret your purchase. Jeansy has produced a new airfile that makes this bird easier to control for us once in a while helo pilots. I look forward to your creations for the AS350.

There's no doubt I want too. The idea the Nemeth's were doing something I liked from the start has had me going since. I was going to be on the beta team after correspondence with them quite awhile back, I figured it was a sure thing. No idea what happened but I fell through the cracks some how. That last repaint Jeansy did, shows the level of detail the Nemeths incorporated into it. My MD-902, or any other of my Nemeth floppers show as much. It looks like a lot of work went into this one in comparison. I want it alright. But in reality I really can't afford to let the funds go no matter how bad. Maybe in the future.

Now, heed my request. Put some Zip-Pitty DO DAH in that flopper!! :applause:

Sean, you've picked up on my tastes.

Edit; Right after I posted the above, I went back to painting. I accidentally deleted the lines layer that are behind the doors.

Lines redrawn. I'm just going with the flow. I guess I'm putting a mountain on the sides.

I say a nice deep red overall with a nice medium gray cheat line, or maybe a shade of pipercub yellow with a black cheat line, to set that mountain off.

Great job guys,you did a very nice model...For me is a piece of heart since I worked with AS 350 B2/B3 for 4 years...(now I fly with the Eurocopter beyond-Alpes enemy..Agusta,with A109 and 139).
Just two little things that looking at the external model,do not convince me..The "blades" anti resonance placed in the rear part of the skids have to be tilted sligtly downward, now I think they are too flat; The second thing is that the front part of the model is just a little flatted backward and upward...But these are little details...Nice you have done the different exhaust pipes for the Arriel different models..As I told before, great job!!:medals:

Nice artwork oleboy - looking foeward to the french chopper. Short info for interested people, C-FYTX and OE-XDH are available at flightsim and avsim.

Greetings :wavey: Dirk

p.s. : OE-XDH (Delta Helicopter Austria - a fictitious company) was inspired by the real world Helicopter OE-XPP from Heli Travel Munich - the helicopter was used for support of geological survey in North- greenland. During this mission the Helicopter wears the orange high-visibility markings.

A small update.

The bird is finished on both sides. Each slightly different as in the real world. And the tail boom is more complete. Plenty to do yet. :wavey:

My alpha and specular settings also need work. I'm not going to worry about those until last.

Fortunately the real-world chopper was airbrushed to look like it has the 3D effect. So basically I am creating a photo-real work-up of it. Some areas are badly shaded. Those areas I have to redraw.

Here's a few more shots. I added the birds tongue (forgot that) and got the sides of the engine shrouds completed. I see they still need a bit more work.

You may be waiting for quite a while. This paint is causing me some grief due to the mapping on the nose. Not saying it's bad mapping, just that it's tedious due to stretching issues.

I have to say this particular repaint, F-HFBI is putting my skills and knowledge to some serious tests. There's no way in hell I would ever attempt a repaint like this completely free-hand in a paint program. It would take far too long to do. I still have plenty of adjusting to do all over before I'd have it as it looks in the real-world. Which I'd planned to go back and do once I got the complete layout finished. Although I'm having a bit of trouble. Currently I'm working on the undersides of this bird, and unfortunately the angles and shading contained in resource material, is far too dark, and/or far too light in the same area to work with. I'm on the verge of being totally frustrated having to create a clipping masks to adjust individual elements as I rebuild the area, to the colors in better exposed areas. I've gotten so frustrated that I've resulted in saving, and flat closing Photoshop to come back fresh at a later time. I've done this several times.

Will I ever get this finished? I honestly can't give anyone this answer. But I know that if I can't do a repaint and get it right, it never gets released.

Better pictures of the bottom would be of great help at this point. So I'm asking everyone. Especially the members of France. Would you happen to know where I might be able to find pictures displaying the bottom of this bird?

I'm currently trying to make contact with several photographers.

Matt, it's nice to see you finally got things sorted out with your install. And to think you reformatted/installed that many times. I would have likely grabbed the hammer. These damn flightsim programs, injected with all the rest of the crap, can really make the whole process not worth it. But, we all keep coming back, don't we. :icon_lol:
