After many hours re-creating the feather for 4096, a little progress.

Thanks, Jeansy.

Here's a horse of a different color. A bit more tweaking and this one will be finished. I added a realistic prop & tires, matching seats & interior of the RW version.

You sure do good things for pigeon feathers. Looks amazing!

Thanks fellas. The paint templates are a nightmare, but the end results are worth it. I've always had a thing for the Wilga.

OctopusG, whoever you are, I really like your attention to detail bringing the Wilga to life. Thank-You!

Just a heads up. Mapping issues that make things very difficult or impossible are within. It's too bad really. It's the only flaw that bothers me, because it limits what can be painted and represented correctly.
I look forward to your next venture.

How can an aircraft be so beautiful and yet so ugly at the same time? I want one! Very, very nice!

Thanks, Paul. While the Wilga is ugly, err, umm, lets say, different. It is a very unique type of aircraft for it's capabilities. It reminds me of the Fiessler Storch in a lot of ways. Another of my favorites.

A little update on my progress. I finished redrawing the "AeroKlub" badge and placed it on the cowl, and the feather is slowly getting dialed in so it doesn't look so ruffled. Now it's starting to take shape.

The rebuilt engine arrived. No shading applied. I kind of like to see the details.

Thought I'd share an FYI with those interested in seeing this paint get finished. It may not happen. There are some seriously messed up mapping issues on the aft fuse. The areas on the left/right sides, where the extruded (modeled) ribs run length wise down the sides, I can not trace the mapping. The reason I'm trying to trace the mapping comes from the way the image crosses them. The image is seriously warped and shifted to beat hell where they cross in those areas. Right now, I've about had my fill of trying to get the (insert foul words here) sorted out. So don't get your hopes up.

If you're a painter who thinks you can do it, and make it look right, take it on!

For now, I put my brushes away on this one. :running:

I really need to buy the Wilga for myself. Really interesting aircraft, and they did such an amazing job re-creating it for FSX!

I like it for the aircraft it is. But from a painters perspective, this thing is cursed!:icon_lol:

Is it normal for this little plane to sputter on take off. I use the CTRL +E to start and after the engine starts I give it a little flap and spool it up for take off and it likes to sputter and stumble for a little bit then it eventually smooths out. Is this some realistic effect for this bird?

I find that decreasing the prop pitch helps that.

By the way, this repaint is almost ready for release

Still plugging away. By doing this repaint it's very easy for me to get side-tracked. It's such a busy scheme. Also too many templates to bounce to and from. I am gaining on it though.

Looking forward to the repaint, very nice and well done...The Feather paint does it justice.

Thanks Rich. There are a few issues concerning the repaint. There are a few mapping issues I can not resolve no matter what I try. I've spent an immense amount of time trying. You'll notice areas in the aft where the texture looks out of alignment. These are the areas I've been in a tussle for days. I just can't fix it.

Hopefully soon, I will be able to release this fledgling from the nest so I can lock the doors after it leaves :salute:

I was also working on another repaint, ES-TWG. Due to mapping issues on the vertical stab, I will not be doing it.
