first off my dog is real fat, looks like a basset hound, she weights 40 pounds and my vet says she should weigh 20 pounds so 1 month ago I put her on a special diet from the vet.
last night i weight her and she is still 40 pounds, hummm
than I noticed,
I have 2 parrots and one is a pal of the dog, calls her, whistles at her and even kisses her.
well I have been noticing the bird went from a 1/2 scoop of food every other day to 1/2 a day.
last night I found the dog laying below the cage and caught the parrot feeding the dog, lol. :costumes: high energy granola

Try feeding the bird 1/4 scoop per day, and be steadfast with that. The bird will learn not to share.

Change the dogs regular food to one that makes him go more than he normaly does. I think that the high perfomance food that police K-9 handlers use should do. Make him produce more 'fertilizer' and the pounds will drop off. And tell the bird he ought to be ashamed of himself.:)

Wasn't that a Warners Brother's cartoon?

Parrots are sloppy eaters to begin with, they must loose half their meal while trying to "chew" it. Are you sure the your dog just isn't mopping up their droppings or is your bird actually scooping out his dish and dropping it down to oyur hound?

What do you feed your birds that the dog likes so much, seed or feed?

Ickie

lol, the bird was feeding the dog, everytime the dog goes beneath the cage the bird starts flinging food down to him. I have been keeping the dog away from the cage, lol. remember they are pals, lol

Bird loves me, though she hates everyone else.
Cat hates me, though she loves everyone else.
Dog loves everybody except bird.

Good thing you put her on a diet eh? If she kept growing you might of had to fix a roller skate to her stomach. Poor thing.
My old mutt (17 years and still going) had a weight problem. But I don't have a parrot that'll feed him so I was able to get him under control.
Wish someone would get me under control. LOL

Clever bird. Cleverer dog.

Switch the bird to some type of food which isn't also dog food, if that's possible. Something like sunflower seeds or fruit.

The problem is that just about anything can be dog food, whether God meant it to be or not.

here is Woodie, the dog hides under the couch when the bird cage is open, lol
He can talk too. Woodie has to eat what ever I eat and raises hell if I do not give him a bite. He loves ice cream and coke a cola.
also he is a thief, when ever i am looking for something, I can find it in his cage.

Sounds like Woodie has some Blue Jay in him somewheres.. :costumes:

The ice cream doesn't bother him? We've kept Jay away from milk products, but other than that he get's bits of what we eat too.

Edit: forgot to mention that chicken and eggs are big favorites with Jay
