Almost every model from Virtavia (incl. the former Alphasim models) is 50% off at simMarket now, the offer is valid till Nov 28th:jump:. I couldn't resist it and downloaded the FSX B-1B and a couple of classics like the FSX Javelin and the A-3 Skywarrior portover.

BTW: There is more stuff on sale from other publishers as well !

I'm gonna get the A-3 package, need to kick up the "fear factor" among my virtual flight deck crews when I'm on final. :icon_lol: Probably the F11F Tiger too.

Sweet! Thanks for the HU. I just finally picked up the Albatross. I've been meaning to for quite some time, and this was a perfect opportunity.

Quite a few of these Alphasim/Virtavia planes are carrierbased, and are also for FSX.

Does anyone know if the hook and launch mechanichs also works in FSX on these models?

And if not, is it possible to add the FSX launch system to these planes?

P.S. And I am aware, that nothing visible is going to happen :icon_lol:

You can adapt most FS9 sea going planes to FSX/A carrier ops by adding a [launch_assistance] section to the aircraft.cfg. Usually they already have a [tailhook] section that works fine in FSX/A, occasionally you may have to tweak the values a bit. Take a look at Lamont Clarke's site to see how it is done:

My thanks too for the heads up! I would have missed it otherwise. If you snooz, you loose!

Picked up the Virtavia B-47E (my uncle flew 'em for SAC) as well as the Douglas Skyray. They were both in service when I was growing up and I thought that both of them were just about the slickest looking military planes extant at the time.

Thanks for the heads-up. Finally got the Pavelow and the C-17. Total price was under $35. I think the "new" price on each was in the $50 range when they were first introduced.
