I came across this site today. Some excellent images, may favourite being the low level shot of the B52 passing an aircraft carrier.

The pilot in this photo is a close personal friend of my brother-in-law and still lives in this county. At almost 90 years old he is no longer flying Spits although he does still have the grass airstrip beside his house.

Very interesting read, thanks.
Bookmarked for later digestion.

The pilot in this photo is a close personal friend ...
I am wondering what medal was posthumously awarded to the photographer...

No photographers were harmed during the taking of the photograph! :icon_lol:

Actually I think that photo was taken by Jerry's crew-chief of the time who apparently was always bitching about the amount of grass clippings he had to clean out of the radiator intakes after each flight!

Jerry has his own website which my brother-in-law maintains for him.

Last thing I heard -- and this was a few years ago -- Jerry was flying an Aeronca out of his strip but I don't know if that's still the case at his advanced age.

Indeed he was and this was the aircraft in question.

I am not sure if he still has it but I do know he has not flown it for a few years now.
