eMaybe a repaint for VAL-4 in the standard OD/Marine field green colors. I know that there is a VAL-4 paint in the original issue but for the most part of the unit's history they flew the green and white or all green birds.

Lots of pics here, could not find any specific bird.

http://www.blackpony.org/images.html

There is also the all black paint job that was made for the earlier FS 2002-2004 version of Piglet's pony. The Bronco has to be one of my favorite birds, not only in FS and scale models but in real life, I once had the rare chance to help out in servicing one at NAS Fallon many years ago. For me it was a wish fulfilled.

Don't have enough time to complete this release, and your requested paints, But after completion, I can do the Black Bird, as well as the OD Val4, question DO YOU want the CIA(Vietnam version) or the standard version.... I have the art of nearly every Bronco bird ever painted out there, I was in Fresno when the CDF 410 Bird went down, I have somewhere around 2735 hours in the "A" and am trying as hard as I can to re-create the exact handling charicteristics, to include 60 degree roll rate. Accellerate while turning, as well as the loop character of the bird. My only wish is to be buried with this bird. :icon29:

No problem if the paints I requested don't make it for the release as long as they are in the pipeline. I have tried to do the VAL-4 bird myself but my skill as a painter explains why I just fly 'em and drool over the efforts of others. As for the VAL-4 bird itself, most of the pics I've seen have the Marine field green on the tops of the wings rather than the white as seen on the Corps' birds. By the way, thanks for the reply to my request, the Black Pony's were a unique unit along with the Seawolves, I've met a few over the years and even after 20 years in the Navy myself I'm always in awe when I am around those men.

Funny thing about this topic, shortly after I signed off last night I was looking at my hobby shelf and found a 1/72 scale OV-10 from Academy along with the VAL-4 decal sheet I got a few years back. Something tell me that I'll be putting that bad boy together sometime soon.

I was up most of the night last night doing the balance thing, IN FSX it says Right and Up from datum is + Left and Down is - But when relocating external fuel, I am getting either a left or right imbalance, will work today to remedy, IF I do not have a remedy, I will upload the paints independently, but then you will lose the benefit of a good pit. sorry guys it's the best I can do for now.

Monday 11/14 update ..... found 2 problems 1 with .cfg editor 1 with model, all models have a defect in that the weapons pod is off left to right by 2 lods so 1 machine gun is closer to the fuselage than the other, requiring a different set of numbers, AND the .cfg editor I use has a problem reading different opposites, finally got it about 3 am this morning..... finish testing this morning, then to remoe payware items, to default fsx.... and upload..... hopefully today... thanks for the patience.....

It is a pitty that the nice repaint is marred by using the wrong numerals...
Only very recently, with the advent of computer generated font decalcos
that some birds are sporting Arial font letters and numerals...
However, the US Air Fprce hasn't used arabic numbers "1"...
with rare exceptions... they use the squared off bar-type number ones...
I have noticed that many european repainters make that mistake.. especially Brits
US services' block letters and numerals are very easy to do from scratch... see
one of my tutorial postings here...
Fine paint job nonetheless... enchance it by correcting the numerals...

It's a pity that there are rivet counters in this hobby too. I imagine that each paint took a few hours to finish and because the font is wrong it's a license to S*** bomb the work. I have 20 years in the USN and I know there are more than a few times that I saw birds on the flight line with the wrong font. I guess the Airframers were too lazy to cut the right stencil. If I sound sarcastic I'm sorry, this is a hobby for fun and I just read a posting that one fine repainter just had enough.

I do repaints for myself and friends, my work is not in the same league as the ones posted here and other sites. I don't have the patience to make paint jobs as well as the ones I always see here. I'll stop here as I have a tendency to p*** off people, especially when I had a long day and the arthritis is acting up.

It's a shame you make these comments, without background, The Air Force, Navy, and Marine Corps sported different numeral as well as marking regulations, The NAVY has even less regulatory by UNIT, than federal. also an aircrafts color scheme was pretty much left to the discretion of the on-site commanding officer.

Nice, looks like I'll have a go at the Capt Sim Weapon SDK and try to mount the 4 M60 GPMGs in the sponsons as well as the 20mm gun pod. Not sure if it's a Colt Mk 12 ( hope thats right, only saw podded guns twice and they were museum pieces or training aids.) or an M2 .50 HMG.

OT but on the subject of Navy paint jobs, if you look around the web you can find some shots of HCS-5's HH-60H's in Iraq sporting iron crosses. The Airframer that cut the stencils and paint was one of my jr. Petty Officers prior to my retirement. Each bird had the iron cross had a unique saying/phrase and/or "funny" picture superimposed on said cross. I found out not too long ago Scurvy still has those stencils. As you implied, the Navy has always had more leeway regarding markings and embellishments. And yes what a better way to relive our misspent youth than Flight Sim.

I'll shoot you a PM in the next few days with the paint jobs.

My compliments to the Chef!! I appreciate all the time and effort you've brought to Tim's Bronco!! The installer, for everyone who downloads, will place a new folder called "Program Files" in the main FSX directory. All the files are located there. It installs a complete file structure starting with Program Files all the way down to SimObjects even if you give it the correct FSX folder to install to. Just a HU so you don't think it failed to install correctly. It's a simple process from there to move the files to where they need to go.

I originally bought that sound pack for Piglet's FS9 version of the OV-10 and seems I had trouble unwrapping/installing as well. Can't remember how I finally got it to work. Since that file is aged and the Flight1 installer/wrapper is flawed/damaged or for whatever reason unusable maybe Aaron could be persuaded to allow it to be re-released as freeware?

Guys I have a problem, I have around 50 repaints of the Bronco, and am going to create separate packages such as the CDF. a couple of years ago I met a guy from the CDF, turns out he was a bigwig high on the food chain..... he ask if I would create paints for the CDF, so I did and thus have them for Columbia, Paso Robles, Redding, Fresno, Fremont..etc..etc..etc.. I got the go ahead to give them out IN the CDF'S new scheme (instead of CDF on the tail, it has CAL FIRE. I need a helper on the .cfg files...... Falcon I am working on your "danang" Marine command olive drab...... and a BONUS a Bronco that was loaned to the US Army and was painted in the Air Cav OD Green, I cannot remember it has been so long but Col Burrin is going to get back with me on the reg number, I am sitting at home awaiting my second knee surgery... so I have some time....... I am going to clear my work mail account and use it to communicate with Bronco fans... Forgive me on the CDF version in my previous package, it was ficticious including the reg and location Los Robles (no such thing) I will have number 340 "Paso Robles" in the next Package. If their are any questions please let me know ... I just found out on my last flight, their is a problem loading the DME along with the radios the xml contaminates it and causes high throttle.. ( all you have to do is tickle your throttle to bring it to normal... thanks for your comments. BTW all my paints are real w the exception of the CDF and the Coast Gurad, BUT AINT IT COOL to have an ARMED Bronco on the prowl in ALASKA... HERE IS ANOTHER OLD ONE http://img69.imageshack.us/img69/750/nasag.jpg (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/69/nasag.jpg/)http://img12.imageshack.us/img12/1622/cdfy.jpg (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/12/cdfy.jpg/)

Just a HU for information's sake. I am redoing the original Paint Kit to allow for HiRes skins. Thankfully Tim had the foresight to put just about everything on one texture, but dang it takes a long time to redo all those lines and rivets, lol. I tried just enlarging the originals but you know what happens when you do that (obviously) everything just gets fatter and I wanted nice thin lines and sharp rivets. Probably won't be completed til this weekend with the Holiday coming up, but as soon as it's ready, I'll post it for anyone else who might want to use it.:salute:

I'm old and forgetful, but ... What OS are you using? I'm still lagging on XP64, so I'm wondering if there isn't a .NET that might not be installed on your system? I've got all of them; 1.1, 2, 3, 3.5 and 4, so I'm well covered. And they aren't updates, each version is a stand-alone and needs to be installed. The timing of the wrapper suggest that .Net 2.0 would have been in effect, so it's something to check out?

And if you're using Vista or Win 7 it might call for that right-click on the wrapper and run as Administrator???

Well, I hadn't considered the .NET possibility, but with everything that I run on this computer I would have thought it would have shown itself by now and it hasn't. I did notice something though, when I double click the wrapper, as I said it never shows a purchase window, but it is showing as an active process in Task Manager. TrackIR failed to shut down a while ago and so I went to Task Manager and while I was looking around, there it was, OV10SND.exe showing in the processes.

Noticed the Throttle thing, but also the engine torque gauges were reading 0 for me. Also when starting an engine, even with the prop at min, throttle at min and the parking brake on the plane would roll away from the engine uncontrollably (left start, roll to the right, right start, roll to the left) when the engine started until it reved back down to idle.

The Problem w/the missing gauge is that it is overwriting itself by direction of an xml, so I have had to modify it the revving of the engines is also the result of an overactive xml, when I upload the new one these will be fixed. funny about FSX, it does not have the command line in the child file, but an fs9 command still works in FSX, where it should not. will upload again. In the meantime, you can fix the engine prob, by deleting the radio file.... Happy Thanks giving day all. will upload the files this evening.

I found the inverter switch so the Torque gauges work correctly now. On the #5 panel the 2 hyd press gauges need to have the needles in the XML file changed from pointing "South" to pointing "West" and "East" respectively as that is the way you drew the needles. That will correct the error in display value.

What would really set this model off, (Maybe he already did. Although the model is a little dated.) is if Piglet applied bump & normals to the model. Then you could add even better visuals.

I have already tried the bumps, and commons the only additional thing I could use would be a mapping tool so I can find all the bumps that are not shown visually.... Is this OV-10A still available for download somewhere? Obviously, the MegaUpload link no longer works. And, I couldn't find anything in the downloads section. I have installed this http://www.rikoooo.com/en/downloads/viewdownload/62/535, but I wasn't sure which is the most up-to-date version.

I also downloaded falcon409's hi-res skin pack from SOH. The skins work fine with the download from rikoooo, but there are some other aircraft.cfg entries that come with the skin pack that seemed to cause some issues (VC lights don't work, aircraft rolls at idle) when I used them with the rikoooo download. Do the hi-res skins work better with the OV-10A package in this thread?

Thanks!
