Hmm, US model is crashing my FSX... Something may be missing in the installer.
The plane is very fun to fly and is very good on FPS.

Yeah....the wilga_fus_1_T texture is corrupt, it is smaller than the others.....(3233 vs 4097 kb)

And I'm missing a repaint kit, wonder whether that will be released as well eventually.

In my version is ok this DDS file. It isnt a reason of CTD. If the file will be wrong You will see black textures, thats all but agree with CTD of this US version N113AS. Too same.

November 3rd, 2011, 11:45
Ok YoYo,
I just swapped the wilga_fus_1_T texture from the N113AS folder with that in the 1481 folder, and now I get a CTD after selecting the variant Piatnitsa (uses the 1481 texture folder).
So it must be the wilga_fus_1_T texture. Probably not converted correctly to DDS format. (hence the small size of the file).
I had it before while compiling my repaints, a smaller outcome size means trouble!

Cheers,
Hank

Darn am I stupid or am I stupid.

I made a mistake, it is not wilga_fus_1_T but the wilga_fus_2_T texture file.
Just checked, the _1 file has the correct size, but it is the wilga_fus_2_T file being the smaller sized one.

No need to install this Aerosoft Luncher. I dont use it and everything works fine.
Tailwheel inst lock in real. If personel wants to do this on the ground they turn of tailwheel for maximum position (for ex. for checking of max rpm). In normal life Wilga has very good wheel brakes too.

Then we hope the best! :)

I've spotted this Wilga already, but good picture...with some weird parts: interesting shape of oil cooling under of fuselage, and the fuel-filling stump is missing from top of the wings. Is it a Wilga 80 or a special edition of 35A? :)
Btw, those passengers is a littlebit crazy! :D

Yep, but no problem with this. Wilga 80 is too same exactly like 35A only new fuel selector for each tank in cabin on the floor between chairs and colector. As You see colector doesnt exist in this version from Thailand. Perhaps staff removed it. They rebuild a little too cover of engine and radiator of oil.

This is a follow up on my previous reply and request for a working link to the USA texture...

Got the replacement texture and the plane seemed worked perfectly until... :kilroy:

- I exited from the flight and was looking at the revolving plane in the selection screen;
- After less than a minute, all the textures went out and i was left with an unpainted model;
- I tried to select another aircraft but the program was busy elsewhere and didn't respond until i got a message that there was no more available memory for FSX and it CTD !

I tried to restart FSX but didn't get it to work, so closed down the PC altogether...

I started the PC after a small delay and opened FSX as usual.
I selected the same USA Wilga plane and it showed correctly as before; chose it and went to my airfield of choice to see if I would get the same results...
It opened OK and I exited to the selection window where the above repeated itself anew...
Lost all paint and managed to exit before I had the same "no more memory available for FSX again as I could hear the PC working hard in the background...

Has anyone experienced the same with this texture or is it just my lucky day ?

I had flown with another texture before without any apparent problem (The USSR one) :kilroy:

Now, let's not bring politics into this equation, please ...:icon_lol:

Looking forward to your feedback...

Fleurdelys

Update: It seems that you don't even have to put the plane on the tarmac to get this result and it would also apply to the USSR one; just let the plane revolve a couple of time in the selection screen and it looses all of its painting...
What is the matter ?

OleBoy
November 5th, 2011, 12:21
I noticed that slightly when I loaded it up the first time also. Although FSX, nor my PC hung up. When I selected it originally, it appeared to start loading fine, then once it got in sim, the textures were partially there. The model/textures lagged very heavily until suddenly it was all colored and ready to fly. After that everything seemed fine and the flight went well.

For reassurance, the file I uploaded was the very same that was posted by YoYo in the Aerosoft forums. Something is wrong. Either with the model, or the textures themselves. I haven't checked the task manager after loading each of the paints to see what the memory usage is, but it makes me wonder if they all perform this way, or if it just the USA scheme causing all the fuss.

I notice that some people are not able to switch between the liveries/models. A solution could be to create a new texture-folder = texture.827. Now copy the following files from your texture-folder = thumbnail, Wilga_cowl_flaps_T, Wilga_devices, Wilga_devices2, Wilga_elements_T, Wilga_fus_1_T, Wilga_fus_2_T, Wilga_vert_T, Wilga_wing_1_T and Wilga_wing_2_T to the new texture.827-folder. After this, copy a texture.cfg-file from one of the other texture-folders to the texture.827-folder. At last, change the texture=-line from the first entry of the aircraft.cfg [fltsim.0]to texture=827. Thats it. Now you should be able to switch between all liveries/models without problems.

The FS Weekend is on in the Netherlands and Aerosoft is always represented there. Coupled with the fact that the developer is from Russia, the (busy) weekend probably got in the way. I'm sure things will be looked into tomorrow.

As another purchaser with the 'can't fly American' problem, I'm wondering where is Aerosoft. They're well aware of the problem on their forum.

Please take note that "I can FLY" the US version of the Wilga, thanks to Yoyo's posting all of his textures on megaupload; they work perfectly !
What I mean is that following my flight and if I stick too long in the selection screen, prior to changing plane and/or liveries, the revolving Wilga model in the selection screen looses all of its textures and if i persist on that screen more than a few seconds longer, that is when the problem really start and FSX crashes ...
The message that I got on my first crash referred to "not having any more or enough memory to use FSX" with the PC struggling earnestly in the background...

I can probably resolve the problem by not loosing time on the selection screen and moving on to another skin or plane right away...

Not being very well versed on the ins and outs of PCs, I dont really have the foggiest idea of what is really going on except that this is the first time that this has occurred and only with this particular aircraft...

I'm wondering if it is not due to the programming itself but I lack the expertise to really understand why and how...

I think it is a misunderstanding - 200MB is the size of YoYo's upcoming repaint-pack. He did a few wonderfull liveries for the Wilga and will make one or two packages to share them with us. The original textures are all .dds-files with a maximum single size of 4MB (~30MB for one livery, some a bit more or less). We did not have the strange situation that fleurdelys describe in his post above, during the Beta-Tests - so it is not very easy to resolve this problem - but i am sure that aerosoft or the OctopusG (Developer) will search and help out. Please post those things at the aerosoft forum - then it will be easier for them to notice :mixedsmi:

I think about series, red, blue and different. Perhaps on Avsim and Flight Sim I will have a problem with do all in one file and better for users too I suppose.

Someone noticed strange behavior of engine in 1.1 version of Wilga X? When engine is starting? Something like mixture problem or magnetos, engine wants to start, cant, again and again, finally starts. I fly only two times in 1.1 version but havent this strange effect in previous version, but agree, to short time I spent with 1.1.

Kiwi repaint.... so welcome in New Zeland.

13th World Precision Flying Championships
February 20-27,1999 - Hamilton Airport, New Zealand
Owner of this Wilga - New Zeland.

The eventual outcome of the Championships saw Poland win (for the eighth time), with New Zealand in second place, and the Czech Republic third. A prize ceremony was held at Vilograd's, a local restaurant set in a vinyard at Ngahinapouri.

Individual winners were Janusz Darocha of Poland followed by Daroish Krady of New Zealand and Jiri Jakes of the Czech Republic. In the Women's competition Nathalie Strude of France was the winner, followed by Dee Bond-Wakelin of New Zealand and Ines Meier of Switzerland. Amongst the low houred (under 500) pilots, the competition winner was Greg Ward (New Zealand) followed by Hakon Fosso (Norway) and Johan Nyler (Sweden). The navigation competition went to Hungary (Laszio Bodis) with Poland in second (Michalski Ryszard) and third place (Janusz Darocha). The landing competition was taken out by Croatia (Zelimir Trifunovic) followed by New Zealand (Daroish Krady) and Slovenia (Robert Verbaci). The award for sportsmanship went to Sofia Svellossanova of Russia.

ZK-PZN (c/n 140548), is a 1980 model 35 which first flew in April of that year. Exported to Britain, the aircraft was registered as G-BHUN to N. Radwanski of Booker. The aircraft was damaged in the same manner as ZK-PZM above, and subsequently followed the same path. The aircraft was first New Zealand registered to Alternate Aviation on May 11, 1992 after being assembled at Flightline Aviation at Ardmore. New owners, Aeroplan Ltd of Albany were registered on May 14 1993, and then K.E.Scott and Associates of Rangiora on July 19, 1995.

Dieter

kdl
November 28th, 2011, 01:14
I experienced an ADF1 setting problem (on my system) with the Wilga ADF (version 1.1).
Therefore I added an additional standard MS radio stack on this plane for cross checking.
Result:
Following problem (error(?)) found:
ADF1 selector switching is wrong i.e., any frequency you want to set, you have to add "10" digitals.
(example, necessary frequency is 332, you have to switch 342 to get ADF1 working correctly. That's the same with any other ADF frequencies)

Can somebody confirm that?

Dieter

Bonjour Dieter,

I also found that the shutdown sound was indeed quite short and resolved this by doing the following :

1. I selected another shutdown sound, preferably from a radial engine which could fit as far as the sound was concerned but had a longer time period for the engine shutdown... (the new one rated 111kb as compared to the original 15kb);

2. Unfortunately, this one was a bit too long for the propeller movement (prop stopped before the sound did) but there is a fix in the aircraft cfg in the propeller section which allows the prop to turn longer by changing the "propeller_moi" setting by increasing it from 30.000 to 40.000 in my case...
Depending on the sound that you select, you might be right on or have to adjust the propeller_moi a bit as I did...

3. You'll have to change both interior and exterior sound in the sound section. They are '1ai14_shut' (for exterior) and 'ai14_shut' (for interior). Save the originals and rename the new sounds with those names (without the exterior/interior)...

I don't remember who gave me this trick (the second part) or where I got it first but it works !

Now the propeller shutdown sequence matches the shutdown sound ... :kilroy:

Hello Fleurdleys,

Thank for very much for your detailed description. I will try that.
Perhaphs you could give me another hint:
- Can you tell the name of the sound you used (maybe download source) or which one you suggest.

BTW,
This is a great community where simmers really find support!
I posted this problem in the Aerosoft forum. You might read there what a staff member answered.

Why a need of secrecy? Anyone who purchased (like myself) the Wilga might like this modification. Can you not share with everyone?

Sorry Oleboy,

I didn't mean to be secretive about it and the fact that I did share my recipe for a "personal" fix with Dieter and the rest of the Sim community at Sim-Outhouse for that matter speaks for itself, I believe...

What I didn't want to do is make known the specific ingredient that I used to steer clear of arguments and showing any preference towards one shutdown sound instead of another as they are all pretty good to start with and are more a matter of taste than results.

If you refer to my answer to Dieter's request, you will find that I did suggest that you use whatever shutdown sound that meets your fancy and work from there. Giving my personal choice to all would be akin to comparing different brands of tomato soup and the loosers might arguably object to not being chosen...
In this case, Dieter is the only one who knows what is my chosen tomato soup brand... :icon_lol:

Cheers,

Fleurdelys

Bug fixes (for me it is one), are normally not job of the users. (It's excellent if they do so)
More users should complain about this sound problem of the soundless propeller after the shut down phase in the Aerosoft forum.
The more complaints, the higher the pressure to react and to do something.
The Wilga is certainly a well-made aircraft!!! Why should this little problem not be resolved?
When I ask my question in the Aerosoft forum, one official answered with a stupid counter question, without going into my problem, I think that's very cynical
and I don't feel treated as a welcome customer!
I also sent a PM to the authors (OctopusG) of this software. But so far I didn't receive a reply.

You have absolutely right. Maybe the reason is the same to why he can't move a vertex to right a littlebit on the side-window next to the instrument panel's left side. There's a hole now. :(

But so far I didn't receive a reply.
Yeah...unfortunately OctopusG team not so active on the Aerosoft's forum... :(

No repaints yet, for any UK registered models! Anyone up to repainting this variation?

There is a (more realistic?) sound package for the Wilga on avsim:
- wilgasound.zip

If you don't like it, only try the two new included shut down sounds
- 1ai14_shut.wav
- ai14_shut.wav
for getting a better shutdown sound sequence. Sound is on until the propeller stops.
Make a backup of the two original files and copy the new ones into the Wilga sound folder.

I'm a little late on pursuing this. I posted a request on the Aerosoft forums to OctopusG, in hopes he will revisit the Wilga to correct the model/mapping issues. I'd really like to complete/release the repaints I started.

Much as I loved this little bird when I first bought it, for some reason, it's been quick to loose it's appeal for me. Just happens that way for me sometimes.

Anyone get this with some addons - even high quality ones?

All that time invested to model the ski arrays and no mention about fixing the stiffeners that go down the port and starboard aft fuse sides?

Is it just the skis, or is there more refinements in the 1.20 update? Could not find any information about that from Aerosoft web-page.

I don't know about anybody else but, yes, I have the same affliction. Can't wait for a new release whether it's payware or freeware and then once I've obtained it, the new soon wears off. I find myself back to flying one or two of the same old airplanes I've had forever.

Heck Dougal! I even have the same problem with my radio controlled airplanes. And they are quite a bit more expensive than any payware FSX stuff...LOL.

I have mellowed out some over the years in my purchases. Am not quite as prone to impluse buying anymore.

i do the same thing..but not just with flightsim...i collect diecast,,cars, planes, tanks, tractors,,,i love to "hunt" for them online ( i refuse to use the word shopping) but i spend hours looking for just the "right model"..that really cool one..like i spent weeks looking for Col Andersons P-39 so i could have him autograph it,once i ordered it,got the autograph,ad stuck it on the shelf,,,i lost intrest...i do the same with books..DVDs/blu-rays..spend weeks even months searching for an old 1930s-40s movie...buy it..then stick in my shelves and never watch it...

Dave, I have a buddy that you remind me a lot of. I (and my friend) collected a lot like you in relation to the die-cast. And a lot like Rdaniel in my R/C past.
Flightsim models have that same lure. It's an addiction to toys.

I've learned a lot since I moved over to flightsim. I learned that spontaneity generally leads to dissatisfaction.
I let others leap first. Then watch to see if they make the right decision.
It's just not penny-wise to buy something just to 'support' a developer, when the model (or whatever it may be) doesn't suit my expectations only to get pushed aside and forgotten.

On another note; Flightsim add-on reviews, generally speaking, are usually snake oil, because the person doing the review has gotten the 'reviewed' item for free and is obligated to speak good merits.

Flightsim models have that same lure. It's an addiction to toys. That's exactly what it is. At least was in my case. Previews of incoming addons looked thrilling and expectations were high. Blood was pumping and adrenaline rushing, while I flashed my CC to make a new purchase:icon_lol:. And then after a few spins they felt pretty meh and started collecting dust in my virtual hangar. But on the other hand this Wilga looks pretty alluring...61854:icon_lol:

1.20
- added ski model
- small sound tweaks

That's all I found from the download page.

Umm, now which versions are there left out there for me to paint - you seem to have covered them all ;)

Well, if someone is allowed to express humble wishes, the USSR/CCCP-paints amount to none at the moment. And perhaps some from the Baltic states (former CCCP-registrations).

It is with deep regret that I must shy off painting this plane - I have just looked at the paintkit and tried the "Beeline" livery. Straight vertical lines "aren't". The paintkit works if you either have 3DS Max and paint on the 3D model (not something us mere mortal painters can help with normally) or you draw crazy zigzags on the texture just to get straight verticals. What's more - the rear fuselage is also mapped "stretched" by the looks of it and the leg fairings are mirrored - so any text on the leg fairing is reversed on one side.

It's good enough if all you want to do is paint plain coverage paints or the livery doesn't call for stripes over the 3d model's kinked bits. Certainly it's not a totally impossible paintkit.

As a plane - I love flying it. It's damn quirky to get started and it flies nicely when compared to many sim models.

Take a look -

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y276/CBris/Various%203/th_kinks.jpg (http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y276/CBris/Various%203/kinks.jpg)

I grant that if you move back a bit, the kinks fade but I tend to prefer accurate detail.

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y276/CBris/Various%203/th_side_right.jpg (http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y276/CBris/Various%203/side_right.jpg)

I haven't and won't bother checking to see if the wing flap, aileron and slat hinges are mirrored - it won't surprise me if they aren't - this livery has striped wings and I can imagine yellow hinges on the black stripes or vice versa.

By the way - I have parachuted from a Wilga - I love it still.

NOT that I might not finish this livery though... ;)

Welcome to my realm of gripes Chris. I came to your conclusions a long time ago. Mentioned it in the AS forums, sent the modeler a couple emails, to no avail.
Simple schemes are just that.

I don't even fly it anymore. No one cares from a developers POV, they got their dosh. They moved forward and left this eyesore in the dust.
