Restore point!

I was running some benches on my new reformated system, and I was testing some dribvers. Well when I was switching drivers I uninsatlled the driver AOK, but I manually deleted the driver's install files, an this caused 22 ActiveX/com errors in my registry I could nto fix. I was just about to do another reformat when I tried a system restore point from afew days ago. I had never done this so I was surprised when it worked! Only things I lost was 3Dmark03 and 05 and Everest, I had them backed to CD so that was no problem to reinstall.

Now my question, how did it fix those ActiveX/com errors? Did that restore harm, or slow my system at all?
