So, I just installed Acceleration on my new PC (Laptop) and when I tried to run it I got this message:

"This graphics card does not meet minimum requirements for shader support. This product requires a geForce3/Radeon8500 class of better graphics card. Flight Simulator will now exit."

This pisses the **** out of me.

Here is what im running, and I was running FSX fine for 2 weeks now since I got it.

Mobile Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator X3100
120 GB SATA Hard Disk Drive
2 GB DDR-SDRAM (DDR2-667, 1 GBx2)
Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium
Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T7250 (2.0GHz)

Im pretty sure I have shader 1.1 and i know im running DX 10

Any help would be greatly appriciated

Actually, the problem resides in SP2, when I took out Acceleration, but loaded SP2 the same thing happened. Is there a way to install Acceleration without SP2?

Thx

Can it run shader 2.0?

Accelerator already has SP2 written in to it. Adding another SP2 only confuses things. You have to go into the Control Panel and do away with Accelerator and then reload it all over again.
Sorry!

Yah, I did that, and that is how I figured out that its SP2, not spicifically Acceleration that is the problem. Ill try it again anyway.

On a diffrent note, where can I find what shader my GFX card is/can be running?

Thx

Heres a link to a pdf file which shows shader model 4.0 support for the X3100.

http://download.intel.com/products/graphics/intel_graphics_guide.pdf

I can't see any reason why it does not work. I suspect it might be a problem of the Acceleration installation program not recognizing your video card.

Robby, you are probably right. So assuming that is the problem, how could I fix this, should I call intel, Uninstall my GFX card and reinstall it?

Thx

You could possibly check your video drivers and download & install the latest drivers. With SP2/Acceleration all graphics cards now have to support hardware T&L, which the X3100 does appear to support. I think the older IBM shared graphics chipsets are no longer supported. Unfortunately my knowledge in this area is limited. It might be best to field this question in one of the tech forums.

You might want to look into upgrading to a better video card. The X3100 is a integrated (onboard) video card and only supports dx9. The latest driver for it is the 15.4 driver.

I was/will again look into that again, biggest problem with upgrading, is that the GFX card is, I think, built into the mother board. I opened up my PC a week ago, and it seemed to be totally built in.

I originally installed FSX then FSX:A and I got the "This graphics card does not meet minimum requirements for shader support. This product requires a geForce3/Radeon8500 class or better graphics card. Flight simulator will now exit." error message too.

I have even uninstalled both FSX and FSX:A and reinstalled FSX. Worked fine. Installed SP1, worked fine. However, as soon as I install SP2, I start getting the message again. Installing FSX:A on top of FSX (with SP2) doesn't help.

It seems to be a problem with SP2. However, I am running RC1 of SP1 for Vista, so it may be that. I have tried the 163.75 (WHQL) and 169.25 (latest beta) drivers for my 8800 GTS, neither change anything.

I don't think that it is RC1, as I dont have that on my vista computer. And I know that it has no problem working on a vista computer as my Bro is using is on his PC (Home Premium.)

When I call the Tech guys (on wensday) and figure out the problem I'll let it be known to all.

The WHQL 169.25 drivers came out today and FSX/FSX: A seem to work fine now :)

Have a HP pavillion dv6000 and had the same error. I then performed the drivers update and it's working now.

Thanks.

I have the same problem with Acceleration on my computer. Is it possible to install Acceleration without SP2? I un-installed Acceleration and resumed reasonable operation with FSX. I then tried to salvage the three new aircraft on the Acceleration disk but I cannot use these three aircraft because of multiple problems. Did anyone else try to incorporate these three aircraft into FSX without acceleration?

Finally got around to calling Support, appearently my GFX card is not supported, and is integrated into my PC so no chance of getting SP2 one the PC.

Now I am trying to move acceleration onto my PC without SP2 but I have All ready run into some problems:

The F18's MFD and PFD and radios do not show.
The F18's HUD doesnt work.
The F18's Afterburner effects do not show(I know I put thoes effects into my effects folder)
The p51 wont accelerate byond 120 KIAS thus making is almost impossible to fly (there is a red warning light that wont shut off on The top right of the VC)
The Helo won't start up and the collective wont move in the VC
The Helo's PFD and MFD wont work.
The Mission act like "Saved Flights"(I Doubt I ported over right)
Longleat, TempleHof, and Istambul wont show up like it does in the mission.
How do you move the carrier over?
Coolant Fluids?
Is this Totally futile?I know this is alot to ask, but any help would be greatly apprciated.
Brownie Points all around :ernae:

Quite a bit has changed with SP2 that allows the new aircraft and features to display and function...I'm not a computer programmer, but based on my experience, I'd say if you want all that functional (I dont blame you though...) its going to require loads of effort and time. Just seems like an enormous task...

I would disable the DX10 option in Acceleration. Then you should be able to run it just fine on the laptop.

AlphaWhiskeyFoxtrot

How do you do that if you cant start FSX?

AWF the real problem is SP2 I think, but if you can tell me how I'd be willing to try.

thx

Try backing up your fsx.cfg file then deleting it and let the sim rebuild the config.

It's normally located here: C:\Users\Your_User_Name\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\ FSX where Your_User_Name is the user name used to log onto Vista.

Tried Deleting the CFG, but the sim didnt even get to that stage, it waited about 2 seconds and then gave me the error message again. :banghead: Im uninstalling it again and will try to port the F18 to see if its atleast possible.
Any more Ideas would be welcome.
