A few shots from last week's holiday to the Spanish Isle of Tenerife, which is located west off the coast of Morocco, Africa.

Hey All,

Nice pics Ferry looks like an interesting place to go. I like stark landscapes.

With respect to your 7D have you noticed any of what Darwin found 2 years ago and still seems to be the case?

Thanks Ed.

The 7D has an option in one of the many menus to increase sharpness in the images which helps, but out of the box it is a bit soft indeed. I only use Picasa for a bit of post processing and usually only to adjust colours a bit more to my liking.
On my computer screen the photo sometimes does not look great, but I guess that happens when reducing a 5184x3456 pixel image to 1680x1050 with a simple photo viewer. When looking at a crop it is usually sharp. If it isn't, it was probably a user error. ;-)

Thanks Caz; Tenerife sure is a unique island. We stayed in the south which is a heavily-populated area (With tourists mainly!) but you're only a 30 minute drive away from the Teide volcano which is the highest point in Spain at 12,198 feet (Picture 5). The peak itself is located in a large (11 miles diameter) volcanic valley at about 6,500 feet high. You can see the edge in photo 6; very surreal landscape, perhaps a bit like Death Valley, or even the moon..

The tree in photo 3 is the 'Drago Milenario' or Dragon blood tree which is estimated 500-700 years of age, although others claim it is 3,000 years old (Unlike other trees these do not have rings to determine the age.). It is however the oldest and largest in the world.

The 'pirate' feeding the sea gull was part of a boat trip mainly used to watch dolphins and whales; we did find a few bottle-nosed dolphins and Pilot Whales!
