I am bulding a new computer and I have been looking all over the place for up to date benchmark results with FSX SP1. I want to find out which components provide best performace with FSX.

I have heard of a benchmark done by Gary Dunne on Avsim but they are nowhere to find. I have looked all over the website. Does anyone have a direct link to the benchmark results?..

It was removed because of inaccuracies.

I am trying to figure out if I should use 4x1gb ddr3 1800 corsair or 8x1gb ddr2 1300 for fsx? Does even fsx use up to 8 gb when using multiple monitors?

I would be running on 3 monitors with geforce 2x8800 ultra overcklocked (Using SLI tech) and qx9650 overcklocked at minimum 3.5ghz or 4ghz. So far the 1800 ddr3 ram may hav a small advantage in increase of fsp but that may not be the case considering these settings with multiple monitors which may be able to use up to 8gb.

If you have any recommendations as to motherboards that perfroms well with these components and fsx feel free to recommend.

If you are using Vista in 64 bit mode applications will use as much memory as you feed it up to 16mb, however neither FSX, nor your video card will access all of it. If you are not using Vista the computer will only use 3.2GB of 4GB.

ASUS Striker Extreme is still a top performer, but for DDR3 memory I would look into the the X38 chipset boards like ASUS P5E

This one is a top performer that is liked at TechCorp and me:

FSBenchmark has been released again at avsim. You will need to download FRAPS as well.

:costumes::costumes::costumes:

Building a computer using the Maximus Extreme motherboard would get very expensive very quickly! After you pay $350 for the mobo you then have to buy DDR3 memory and that stuff is expensive too (over $550 for 2GB of high speed DDR3). While you're at it you may as well buy a $1200 Yorkfield.

Where's hey_moe's credit card when ya need it? :isadizzy:
