Attention all astronomers! There is a new Type Ia supernova (http://www.astronomerstelegram.org/?read=3581) that has been seen in the nearby spiral galaxy M101, and it’s very young — currently only about a day old! Note: regarding the author's "currently only about a day old" means we can just now see it but it happened 25 million years ago give or take a decade or so.
