Hello Everyone.

We are pleased to announce the release of a private beta; Ace of Aces. Developed and headed by Damon Slye, the original developer of Dynamix' Red Baron and Aces of the Pacific, as well as many other titles, Ace of Aces is a World War I dogfighting game from Mad Otter Studios and will be available exclusively on InstantAction.com.

Since you guys are all fans of this genre we wanted to offer you access to the private beta as we'd value your feedback during this sneak preview period. Simply use "wwivet" as the Promotional Code upon registration to gain access. This code will also unlock a custom avatar pack themed for Ace of Aces and will distinguish testers from your community. Registration and the Ace of Aces private beta are free, of course.

A message from Damon:

"Ace of Aces is a flight game designed to be fun and easy to play. We captured all the exciting moments from the WWI dogfights, but left out the tedious stuff. You aren't required to start your plane on the runway, take off, and follow navigation points to your mission. Instead, you start in the air, facing the enemy and jump straight into the fray. We believe that we've built a game that is exciting and easy to play, but still captures the essence of WWI dogfighting."

More information on the game can be found here: http://blog.instantaction.com/aceofaces.html

Looks like you need to make sure that "wwivet" is all lower case to get immediate access. Sorry if people weren't able to get access. I had tested the promo code and it worked, but now it's not.

This is certainly good news. I've always thought that if the original Red Baron was simply updated for graphics, and given multiplayer capability, it would be an arse kicker of a WWI sim. The flight models were very good and challenging, although I had thought they needed just a bit more climb. When flying the Camel, you HAD to use rudder in turns, to keep it from nosing in [Right] or climbing [Left]. The N17 would go into a spin if you stalled it with a severe angle of attack, and the DH2 was absolutely diabolical. If Ace Of Aces is anything like RB1, then you should have a very good sim, indeed. Hopefully, there will be added the capablity to fly some two seaters with an AI rear gunner... maybe put the plane on "autopilot" and defend the tail as an observer.
As you indicated, I was not able to immediately access the game with the promo code. No matter. I'm sure this will eventually be corrected, and I look forward to checking out what is promising to be a most welcome addition to the flight sim community. :applause:

Just wanted to update this thread and let everyone know that the game is now open to everyone. Go ahead and check it out and be sure to give us some feedback on how to make the game better.

Thanks!

Some feedback: improve the graphics, they are outdated and not realistic [looking at your blog video]. It looks now like the WW1 game Wings of War, but that was from 2003. So why spending $$$$.
Take a look at OFF3 or better RoF and you know what I'm mean.
