Working on some new/reworked skins for the Alpha freeware F-105D and F Thunderchiefs. Ready to redo one of the SEA tri-color camo jobs. Don't have the foggiest about the right colors. Anyone have the RGB codes for the three colors used in the SEA camo paints?

That's a can of worms you've opened. There is always debate about what is correct. You can be a purist locked in a paint booth and be correct with one set of colors or stand on the ramp taking samples of every aircraft you see and you'll have several slightly different but all perfectly correct shades. It's all in the eyes of the beholder. The problem most often seen, in my opinion, is in the color of the tan. Some folks make it too yellow, some too red. Based on some RGB samples I just took from some randomly selected master textures I've done this myself. But maybe the following will help.

From back when I painted the latest Alphasim F-105D I recall visiting this website. I don't think I used his information because I just checked and what I used was different.)

http://www.digitalstrike.eu/Aircrafts/F105D31RE/aircrafts_F105D31RE.html

He indicates this:
FS30219 Tan (RGB:161,131,108)
FS34079 Dark Green (RGB:89,92,78)
FS34102 Medium Green (RGB:99,103,80)
FS36622 Light Grey (RGB:218,208,199)

For the F-105 I used:
FS30219 Tan (RGB:132,107,77)
FS34079 Dark Green (RGB:62,68,54)
FS34102 Medium Green (RGB:69,80,57)
FS36622 Light Grey (RGB:201,201,201)

For the B-66 I used:
FS30219 Tan (RGB:137,103,80)
FS34079 Dark Green (RGB:46,50,17)
FS34102 Medium Green (RGB:79,77,49)
FS36622 Light Grey (RGB:192,192,192)

For an unreleased product I used:
FS30219 Tan (RGB:142,112,91)
FS34079 Dark Green (RGB:59,62,40)
FS34102 Medium Green (RGB:79,77,49)
FS36622 Light Grey (RGB:220,220,220)

So obviously for whatever reason even the same painter will deviate. :icon_lol:

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info.

Here's the colors I used on the first redone SEA camo skin...the stock one that came on the F-105F in the freeware Alpha package:

Tan: 154,126,104
Dark Green: 43,46,15
Medium Green: 75,73,48
Light Gray: 181,181,181

I pulled these colors off of a pic of a very detailed F-100 Super Saber in SEA camo to do a couple paints for the FDG2 F-100 (another project that I need to get back to and finish at some point). The plane looks pretty good in these colors. I will let this paint stand as is, but will give your colors a try on the next F-105 camo skin.

A screenshot of the redone F-105F with wings and tail texture sheets enlarged to 1024 by 1024 and elevator textures enlarged to 512 by 512. Fuselage was already at 1024 by 1024.

You color codes are FAR better than the ones I used. Working on a second SEA paint (this one for the D model) and love the colors much better. Will go back and redo the F model SEA paint with your codes. Thanks again!
