Colours look wrong to me! 91st " Mad Hatters" flew by me the other day and they were the proper colour that purple blue colour, that looks like a D to me TBH! Awesome model just totally wrong colour for the E, Pilot and WSO are too small too imho!

Thanks for your comments. However, you may be mistaken on the pilots. They are exactly right for 5'11" tall males weighing in at 160lbs. And the plane is exactly the right size. 100% accurate to scale.

As for the color, there are many different colors of E. As can be seen on Airliners.net.

When painting this aircraft, I have used several photos. The livery is NOT finished, and the base colors (among others) are still under adjustments. They should probably be a bit darker with a slight bluish/purple tint. But I have not seen these IRL, so I have to rely on photos

Keep in mind that the Lakenheath F-15E's are a different color than most of the US based F-15E's. Also, F-15E's have been painted so many different shades of gray over the years, that Gunnar could paint this baby just about any shade and still be true to a real life scheme. Then there's the green paint schemes, from way back.....

That's exactly right. It's all subjective and depends on how the painter feels that day -- factory fresh or sun bleached.

Many things. One of my faves is the on demand tanker that has a boom that swings left-right-up-down, along with in and out. It will track itself to the receiver aircraft once you fly into it's "tracking zone", and you know when you've hooked up by the "pop" sound and shake of the plane your flying.

"the on demand tanker"

Do you mean you make that tanker appear when you need it ?
And an automatic hookup occurs once inside a zone under and below the tanker ?

What is the rate of fuel flow? Any voice ?

A great simulation idea.

peter12213
August 7th, 2011, 12:04
Wow that's awesome will it work with other aircraft too?

Bone
August 7th, 2011, 13:15
Wileycoyote4:

The Milviz F-15E gives you the ability to call up the tanker when you want it.

The boom flys to you when you are in the zone and will track your position, and the inner boom retracts and extends to match your distance, and as I said it "pops" and shudders the plane you're flying when the boom makes contact. However, you have to fly the plane with a fair amount of precision once you make contact, or there will be a boom "break away", and that is a "pop" sound also. So, it's not going to fly the plane for you once you hook up, although that would be alot easier, lol. There is a tanker communication recording from the boom operator, and she sound kinda sexy. The recording is limited in scope.

As far as rate of flow is concerned, I don't know. It will add fuel to your tanks as long as you stay hooked up.

Peter12213:

I haven't tried it with another plane, but that is on my list to try. I have recorded the F-15E flight with a tanker call up, and then played it back. The tanker will let another F-15E under the boom while the originally recorded F-15E moves off and out of the way.

I think as this F-15E is further refined, and MilViz makes additional releases of information consistent with that refinement, that many people will be making direct comparisons to other simulator titles such as Janes USAF. This F-15E promises to expand the FSX envelope.

Multi works great with the F-15E: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YwoBoNQtnBw

The only thing lacking at the moment is being able to see the other players munitions. I am not sure if this is being worked on, but I have asked for multi-player versions which will have stores already visible (i.e. an air to air version, air to ground dumb bombs/precision, ferry, etc.) Again, not sure if this will be implemented, but enjoy the video.

I might add on the tanker bit that those who are skiddish need not be intimidated as there are 2 modes for the tanker. There is a regular mode (which is easier), and a pro mode which requires a lot more precision flying (the box you fly in is smaller). As Colin said though this is but a small part of the overall package. I am not precise enough of a flyer yet to tank though which is why there are no screens of it from me. :icon_lol:

Not interested in firing missiles as there is other sims for combat.

I am after a : start up - take off - fly - land - shut down in as much detail as possible.

Naruto-kun
August 9th, 2011, 01:19
Startups and shutdowns are done as per the TO. As for the rest of the flight....well lets see....well theres always the navigation system :d . Right now im working on the steerpoint entry/editing and trying to find a way to support multiple flightplan routes just like the real jet does. That however is a tricky b&^*ard to code. However Aim and Offset steerpoints are supported. Offset steerpoints are basically steerpoints that are offset by distance and bearing from a particular steerpoint. The Tactical Situation display is also being dealt with to cover this. As for navigation modes....there are 5 modes supported. NAV, GT, TCN, ILSNAV, ILSTCN. NAV is your main mode and steers you through the steerpoints on your flightplan. TCN....no brainer its for TACAN navigation. GT is ground track and if you have cross winds the steering cues on the HUD and MFD will guide you to hold the right heading to maintain a particular ground track regardless of drift. ILSNAV and ILSTCN are basically the same except ILSN displays ILS data and selected steerpoint data while ILST displays extra TACAN data instead of steerpoint.

So....all in all you will be well equipped to go anywhere in this baby in the same way that the real bird does.

Matt

It is not the TacPac we are waiting on for release. In fact the end release will not have native support for it (I haven't even seen the TacPac as I have been waiting on it myself for their F/A-18E that is in my FSX hangar). We have our own weapons system that was developed in house, and that will be with the F-15E... From reading VRS Forums over the last few months they will support other aircraft, but you will need to modify the MFD's, weapons stations, and such to support this.

FSX @ war though I am unsure as I am unfamiliar with this product. So I will go with Colin's answer of no comment at this time until I do further research. If anything other than our coding is supported though it will most likely come after the release in the form of a SP. We will not hold the F-15 release up for any external software that is coming, so don't have to worry about that.

Naruto-kun
August 10th, 2011, 09:26
Larry Zambrano and I are still working furiously on the navigation system as it is the most complex part aside from the weapon system. Also the FDEs for the missiles are pretty damn tricky as FSX does not support rocket engines so we are working hard to get their performance correct. No Super missiles allowed unless they are AIM-54s :icon_lol:.

So it will be released when it is ready. No sooner, no later.

Sorry Colin, admittedly was trolling a bit, for all the right reasons and will await the release as patiently as I can. I guess your team is just excited about where your product status is so far.

Thanks for the update and know I have followed your developments from the beginning. I will be patiently reading the forums and watching your future releases while gone. No where on the AAA list of approved sights, but the pay is damn good.

Also, would love to see your variant of an F-111, should you ever venture back into the Century series. I too followed some of the Iris forums before they were hacked into and what they showed looked so close to fruition. Not trying to stir the proverbial pot between you and Iris, just a shame such a great looking model didn't see the light of day.

At this stage I cannot make any predictions. Right now I got a lot of bug fixing in various instrumentation and am still working on the steerpoint entry/editing system. Then there is still a bit to be done on the weapon system.

As a little update, I tested the MP air to air with a friend the other day.

Players (from my understanding :icon_lol:) will have the option to play for keeps, or play for say 'training'.

We have a little gizmo in the cockpit, that when depressed, keeps your aircraft from exploding in the sky. Forget to turn it on, and you'll appear as a flaming ball of fire to the other player.

Now let's say you don't want to play for keeps, you and your friend can both use the little gizmo in the cockpit, and say I fire an AIM-9 or score a guns kill on my opponent, I have audio feedback of a confirmed hit, and can thus call knock it off.

I am not 100% sure if we are going to implement say a smoke trail after a confirmed hit (like those TOP GUN propeller flying guys have), or if we will leave it as is. I will keep you all updated.

Currently (and here to stay), you can destroy any AI aircraft using the Air to Air weapons. In the next few days, I am going to do testing with other payware aircraft, and see if I can in fact make say the Aerosoft F-16C explode in MP (nothing against Aerosoft...just testing).

Will keep you all updated, and we'll post video soon.

One thing I must say, dog fighting with the F-15E against a buddy in MP is pretty intense. You're flying the plane not on the airspeed readout in the HUD (since you're likely to be padlocked on the opponent), but on the approaching stall horn...BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP (and when you've pulled too tight) BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!

It is a very...how can I say this...poopy feeling seeing your opponent closing on your six, knowing your energy is nearly depleted with the audio que of the BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP, but damn I have never had so much fun dog fighting in FSX!

Best regards, Diego

BTW: You won't be alone when flying this jet! We are working an AI and airbase package for the F-15E just as we did for the T-38A.

Nothing like a full ramp of F-15E's! These shots at Mountain Home AFB, ID:
