Is there a way to turn off the 3D sound in FSX?

Do you mean the background elevator music as FS loads? If so, there is a speaker icon on the top right of the free flight screen. Hit it.

No not that. The sound 3D sound cone. How the sound changes as you move around the aircraft in spot view.

Interesting. Just out of curiousity, why turn it off if this is possible?
