Help! I just received the following hard disk drive from Newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136218&nm_mc=TEMC-RMA-Approvel&cm_mmc=TEMC-RMA-Approvel-_-Content-_-text-_- (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136218&nm_mc=TEMC-RMA-Approvel&cm_mmc=TEMC-RMA-Approvel-_-Content-_-text) The drive arrived in a plastic protective enclosure with no box, instructions, CD, cables, or any other extras.

I assumed that the data and electrical connectors would fit my equipment; a Lenovo desktop and an Acomdata external hard drive enclosure. However, the data and power connectors on the drive are completely different and I don't know where I went wrong in ordering the drive or if there is some way to use adapter cables to make the drive work for me. After several unsuccessful hours in trying to research my problem, I find myself only more confused. Can someone around here enlighten me a bit on these matters or point me to someplace that explains the issues involved? Thanks!

Having continued doing research, apparently, my issue is mixing up IDE versus SATA drives. My external enclosure, in which I had hoped to install the drive, is apparently built for an IDE drive, which I failed to note when I ordered the drive, due to my ignorance in these matters.:isadizzy: I'm still trying to figure out if I can install the drive in my PC.

When you buy the OEM product that is how it comes. If you go to there site and select support it will show ya the pin set up for prim. drive and secondary drive. If it is sata you should have to do anything except hook it up. Afterwards go into the admin. of your computer and assign it a drive letter.

This one is the one I would buy, has internal hookups and no power needs to be supplied to it.
1 IDE and 2 SATA

Guys, I greatly appreciate the feedback!!! I really wanted to use the new SATA drive as an external storage and backup unit. To solve my problem, I ordered a new hard drive enclosure from Newegg that is made for a SATA drive. Again, thanks for taking the time and effort to be of assistance. It is greatly appreciated!
