Just wondering if anyone had had any luck. I've caught the cable a number of times but when the cable catches the nose always buries itself into the deck and the ensuing fireball occurs!!!

Sounds like you're flaring! More speed. Are you applying power just before the trap? A bolter is definitely better than creating a FOD pile! :icon31:

I land Alphasim's A-6 on carrier. I mod aircraft.cfg and i can start on catapult :jump:

yes a gear stiffening mod helps on the prowler and intruder and even the acceleration hornet
- did you know? that the acceleration carrier in the simobjects/boats folder, when made flyable,
can be trapped in multiplayer?
it's so much better when you have witnesses...

I got her down on the deck the second time I tried it. You just need a nose-up, tail-down attitude when you come in (about 3-6 degrees is good) Also make sure your tailhook is down.:mixedsmi:

And if you replace an AI aircraft model by the model of the carrier, you get a flying carrier and you can land on it. Tested only with the default FSX carrier, but it should work with the Acceleration carrier too (including cables and catapults).

Knowing how much Sci-Fi addons you've modelled, this should sound quite interesting for you (I hope) ;)

Just as an FYI,

If you already doing this then please disregard. The Intruder on final to the boat should have no more than 6000 lbs of fuel (<-- Real life), full flaps, hook, three green (gear) and boards (speed brakes) extended. This was done to keep the engines turning higher so that on the bolter all you had to do was squeeze the boards closed and work your flaps and gear as you are on the go through up to pattern altitude. Hope this helps. The boards also keep the engine rpm up so fine tuning is a little easier.
