...to invest into a new vid cart. I am toying with getting the NVIDIA GTS with 640MB. Any comments on the card are appreciated. After installing Accerleration all runs fine, but I still sense a new vid cart (currently running an ATI X1650 PRO which just doesnīt like to be OCed, no matter what I tried) will ease my last pains about stutter/FBS hits and blurries.
For better information, my system specs: Intell Pentium D(ual) 3,40GHz 3.39Ghz, 2GB RAM, Windows XP, DX9 (no plans to plunge into vista or DX10 yet). Moreover when I upgraded my cart last time with SP1 it really did a lot for me.
Though I am a bit on a budget, so please donīt think I wouldnīt like a
8800 GTX or ultra...I would, but...:redf: Any experiences with the 8800 GTS for FSX?

Save your money and buy a 7950GT video card. You would see a better boost with a C2D CPU but that would most likely require a new MB.
The 8800 series video cards are great for DX10 but you stated a desire to stay with XP and DX9. If you really want an 8800 series get the 8800GT.

I have an eVGA 7950GT, 512Meg, PCIe card. I am not to happy with FSX performance, but that may be due to my CPU; 2.6 Dual Core. I'd go with the best card you can afford, that will work well with your system.

My 8800GTS 640 runs great, but if you really want some bang for the buck, look for an 8800GT 512 which outperforms the GTS somewhat, despite less Ram.
If you don't have the s for the GT though, go for the GTS. :jump:

I have a 7900GT, and it is worth mentioning that the Nvidia 7 series of cards have some still-unsolved issues with Acceleration.
When Acceleration first came out, it was discovered that attempting to access the in-flight menu bar in FSX using the mouse would cause FSX to completely lock up if the sim was running in fullscreen mode.
The newest batch of Nvidia drivers have mostly solved the problem, but FSX will still randomly lock up on occasion if the menu is accessed with the mouse.
