Acceleration finally dropped through the letter-box this morning and first impressions are http://www.visualflight.co.uk/forums/icon_smile_shock.gif
Before installing, I saved two flights and noted the frame rates in both full-screen and windowed mode. I then installed and defragged, loaded FSX and registered with the new activation code and ran the two saved flights.
Here are my findings.
Above Keilder, in the R-22 VC.
Pre/post Accel
Windowed, average 51.2/63.6fps
Full-screen, average 44.3/53.3fps
Above Perranporth (airfield/cliffs), spot view of the Goose.
Pre/post Accel
Windowed, average 47.7/59.1fps
Full-screen, average 60.2/79.0fps
Apart from a signifiicant increase in frame rates post Accelleration, I hadn't realised the difference in frame rates in windowed and full screen mode when in the VC and in spot. Both pre and post Accel, windowed mode gives higher fps in VC whereas the opposite is true in spot view.
Acceleration was installed over my existing installation which contains many add-on aircraft and sceneries. It did not change any settings, as far as I can tell, there was no change to the FSX.cfg.
I have since tried DX10 and I'm getting even better frame rates, 81 in windowed spot view at Perranporth.
