I was trying to find a post about this but could not. I bought acceleration from best buy the other day and I installed it yesterday. However when I go to do the mission for the mustangs racing at reno. It will play for about 5 to 10 minutes and then crash to desktop. Sometimes it doesn't even take that long. So I uninstalled fsx and everything reinstalled up to sp1. All seemed to be fine I flew around for a bit no crashes. I put acceleration back on and the same things start to happen. Is anyone else having these problems? Is there a fix or anything that might be done to fix it?

This is a clean install of vista ultimate I have the newest drivers for everything I think. I had a different problem the other day but it seemed to iron itself out.

Thanks for any help that you might be able to give.

ok so I was playing around and it's crashing no matter what plane or helicopter that I'm in and it doesn't matter where I'm at. So I'm hoping that it isn't just acceleration that is causing the problem. I was really looking forward to this. This time though I got an error report that I was able to see. Although I have no idea what it means.

Does anyone know anything about what that all means???
It also told me something about DEP was on for the program. I tried to turn it off in the system settings however it would not let me. It told me that it had to be on for this program, meaning fsx of course.

hmmm I spent about 2 hours on the phone with MS and was no help at all. He is "suppose" to call me back... lol I'm sure. I have no gotten roughly 10 plus different errors. I have no idea what is going on at this point. So I'm just going to do a complete format and start from scratch. If that doesn't help I'm not sure what to do.

As it stands the problem has been fixed. I happen to stumble onto someone talking about the same type of problems that I was having only with different games. The problem is with one of the updates from MS with vista ultimate. I am not sure which one so I again had to start from scratch. I tried to do a restore but it messed things up even more. I did not do any updates from MS and I do not have a single problem. So that may be something for everyone to remember if they start having problems. From what I read it's something to do with MS and Nvidia's new drivers. That is over my head though. :ernae:

****edit**** don't listen to me... I was wrong, after installing acceleration the crashes started again. So I'm not sure what it is but something within Acceleration is causing the crashes. I flew just fine before with SP1 and after the install right back to CTD.

well I take it after 95 views that nobody knows what might be going on or has the power to point me in the right direction.

The only thing that i can think of is do you have the microsoft visual c++2005 redistributable installed? I've been one of the lucky ones that haven't had one problem with Acceleration.

doesn't that automatically get installed with fsx? I thought I saw that zoom accross the screen at install. I have been seeing on other forums that people think that the problem is with Nvidia drivers. What kind of video are you running? I have the 8800 series with the 163.69 drivers installed. I am now getting the little popup in the bottom right corner almost every time saying that DEP has stopped this program "meaning FSX". I tried to turn it off from what I found online but it still shuts it down and gives me the little pop up again. Here is the command it told me to enter : bcdedit.exe /set {current} nx AlwaysOff

My question to that is if it's off how is it still stopping fsx?

*** I got it to turn off after a reboot, however it's bluescreening on me now... I think I might just uninstall it... Hopefully they will put out of patch sometime soon... I was looking forward to this one :frown:

I would check to see if it is installed, if not get it and install.
I'm using the 169.04 beta's for my 7900GS in both XP and Vista64.
Have you tried a different driver? Try out the beta's
http://www.nvidia.com/Download/betadrivers.aspx?lang=en-us

The drivers you are using are older, and were out before Accel was released.
They might be the cause of all your problems

Could be the drivers on your particular system but I have tried 16904 and got the same result. I'm sure it's a driver issue as I'm not booted to the desktop but my screen goes black. I have to kill the FSX.EXE*32 process because as far as Vista is concerned FSX is still running even thoough I shut it down. then, if i relaunch FSX the aircraft preview windows is black. Definetly a DX10 driver issue IMO.

The only way from me to launch FSX again is to reboot the system.

I have exactly the same problem, "the driver has recovered from a problem" (8800GTX, 169.04) but only in one particular area. It happens mostly in full-screen mode, windowed seems better.

Well, my issues are getting deeper. Again.

FSX decided tonight that it wasn't activated again for whatever reason. So, I creatd a new profile and decided to slowly migrate my data to the new profile before killing the old. All I did was migrate my CH profiles so far. This was shown to me by MS support. Evidently there is something in my profile that is an issue. MS couldn't tell me what it was though.

FSX launched fine the first two time I ran it in the new profile. I flew around for about an hour. Then, I decided I wanted to change the sound on one of my aircraft. Did that an relaunched the sim. Now, my aircraft are missing half the fuselage. The bottom half. I changed nothing graphics wise. Not a thing.

I gotta say, this sim iws the most problematic POS software I have had the pleasure of owning. I am running 169.04 drivers, Vista 64, 4GB RAM, Creative X-Fi Gamer, blah blah blah.

I have been trying for one year to get this sim running on my system. A very strong system. Core 2 Duo OC'd to 3.61Ghz, 8800GTX. Everything else runs fine. Between the blurry issues, NVidia Driver issues and the instabilty of the sim I've had enough. I have tried everything. I do believe I'm calling MS tomorrow and demanding a refund. This product was falsely advertised from the beginning. That's my opinion. Runs better under Vista and DX10 my butt!

MS can't even get there own software to run under their own OS. That's pretty sad. It's not the first time I've seen it. Now, I'm going to step away. I've had a bad week. I was banned from Avsim Saturday after 11 years of membership for getting upset and stating that someone needs to be removed from ACES. This is absolutely pathetic.

Having spent thousands of hours on this, in fact the whole of this year and thousands of £'s of my savings. I now give up.

What have I gained, well i'll tell you, a Vista OS that does not do what it states on the Box, a Flight simulator that does not do what it states on the Box, and to cap it all an Addon/Update called Acceleration which won't even run on properly on this very expensive system, and DX10 which a year on is still not giving what was promised .:isadizzy:

Tweaking Hour after Hour, i've spent more time on Forums looking for answers than I have Flying.:banghead::banghead::banghead:

After all this effort I had it running at 30fps and stable. Then along came Acceleration/S2, back to square one again and another £25 out of pocket.

The first think I saw after it loading was that Multiplayer was missing, then the graphics started to play up, then half the addons i have paid for do not work.

This last item is the straw that broke the Camels back.

I had removed over 60 gb of flightsim software, formated the partion,
checked the registry, checked for latest drivers and any more updates.

A fresh install of FSX, defrag, SP1 defrag, Acceleration defrag, Activate.
Still no Multiplayer.

Ran it and was very disapointed, and to cap it all even the aircraft have problems, turned it off restarted it and now it wants activating again,
Re activated again it said it was acivated O.K. Started FSX please activate Acceleration "What not again":banghead::banghead:

Before anybody jumps down my throat, I have been building and maintaining computer system fo years, I am not a novice, and have been flight simming since FS2002.

Microsoft should not release or sell to the public items which do not run as stated. They're all Hype and no notion as far as I can see, They can Talk the Talk, but not Walk the Walk.

More interested in DRM and Protectionisim than producing a product that works out of the Box. All this under the banner of "Cutting Edge", I am sorry but I don't think so anymore, they have lost the Plot.

I have aslo just received a set of Pedals and Yoke system that I am now considering returning, another £200.
I've I had my rant,and now I,m finished.:mix-smi:

Bruce.

Sorry to hear your troubles Bruce. The issues you are facing are the exact same issues I have had. The first two months of ownership of FSX RTM went fine for me. Then, 2.5 months later FSX had a problem with activation. After spending untold hours on the phone with MS support it was deemed that FSX had a problem with my RAID controllers and was failing activiation as a result. So, I RMA'd my motherboard. Problem solved. For awhile anyway.

Then, SP1 came out and totally ruined the ability of the sim to render tiles propelry. Silently waiting for SP2 in hopes this would be addressed, I hung on. Now SP2 is out with graphics corruption from day one. Initially the only tell tale signs that the corruption existed were flashing runway textures and aircraft lights that refused to display although you could see their reflection on the fuselage. Shadows were missing on portions of the runway as well. Definetly a Z-fighting issue which tells me it's driver related.

After flying like this for a week, FSX started calling out for activation again and refused to activate under my current (original) profile. To make matters worse, the sim started to CTD on me three nights ago like so many others are experiencing. It was at that point that I figured, as MS support had found, there may be a problem of some sort with my profile. Hence my creating a new one last night. Activation went well in the new profile but total graphics corruption has taklen it's place.

I too am a certified hardware/software technician of 16 years. The problem is not my hardware. If it is then no one including myself can nail it down. It only affects FSX. I have other DX10 games that work fine on my system. All DX9 games work fine. The problem is FSX, DX10 and Vista. Plain and simple.

Now, I wonder if we are ever going to see a patch to address the issues Accelleration has brought to the table? Especially since Phil Taylor stated that there will be no more patches for FSX post SP2.
