If you are in the UK, the Discovery History Channel is running the series "Great Planes".

Some of you who are older, may remember this fantastic series from the early 1990s.

The first episode will be "A1 Skyraider" then "P-40 Warhawk", then "P-51 Mustang".

Here is a link to all the times:

I watched a few of the series, but never got to see all of them. I'd like to though, the ones that I saw were fairly well done.

My favorite aeroplane show was Discovery's "Wings" to include "Wings of the Luftwaffe" and "Wings of the REd Star."

I watched it today.

Didn't like it at all.

They have updated it with a "talking head", fast edits and a lot of modern footage from an aircraft museum.

Much prefer the original ones.

Some Australian DVD stores still have the DVD's of the old series. There are some good clips on youtube.

Yep, "Wings" (not the network sitcom) is the gold standard for airplane documentaries.

If you like firearms, then "Tales of the Gun" is its equal.

My favourite Plane Docs were the BBC Reach for the Skies series but It's a hard job finding them these days. I used to watch them at my Grandads house after school as I had them on VHS. I particularly remember a ww1 dogfight scene using the same aircraft used in the Aces High film (I.e. Some plane mocked up to look like an SE5a)

Here it is!

He also had this on the old Amiga! http://www.mobygames.com/game/amiga/their-finest-hour-the-battle-of-britain (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RjS24GnF1a0)

That's a coincidence, it is on later today.

I'll enjoy that, thanks for the heads up.
