Just saw this notice over on the flightsim news page about the MAAM Sim B-25J Version 7 release.

http://www.maam.org/flightsim/news/BT_v7_PR/BT_v7_PR.htm (http://www.maam.org/flightsim/news/BT_v7_PR/BT_v7_PR.htm)

Apologies if someone has mentioned this before, I usually miss most of what's going on.

I think that is simply the old DC-3 version with all the freeware patches incorporated. Which I have.

Not sure how that differs from this B-25 update package....but I'm tempted. Never bought this for whatever reason.

so this will be full fsx? no prop prob like other port overs?

I think it looks great and 40 repaints are included. This is a must have for me. But it is not full FSX, here is the info from their web page:

While the FSX aircraft package is a "port-over", meaning it was originally designed for FS2004, it has been extensively modified and optimized for FSX. When our first 'Briefing Time' model was introduced for FS2002, nearly ten years ago, it set the bar for extreme realism in vintage aircraft for MSFS. We are pleased to say that 'Briefing Time' operates, looks, and flies beautifully in FSX and we are confident you will enjoy and appreciate this latest iteration.

I do believe I will be making a very rare exception to my "no portovers" rule. :applause:

Huge thanks for the HU! :salute:

This does look excellent, it sounds like it is supposed to work in FSX without having to mess about with gauges and textures, so might give this a go.

B25 from MAAM is great model, right and agree (Im owner this two for FS9) but sitll it isnt native model for FSX. Outdated technology, only port.

June 29th, 2011, 00:58
is there?
Because the RCS version is also a port as far as I know..and no repaints!

This looks like a first class project. It would be nice to have some details though -- is this a straight portover, or is this a model that was designed for FS2004 and then converted to FSX using the FSX SDK making it a native FSX model that was originality designed for FS2004?

Either way, I know this will be fantastic. The people who worked on this are, in my opinion, the most talented developers in our hobby. Furthermore, the proceeds go to support the Mid-Atlantic Air museum and to restore future aircraft -- it is a win-win.

Congratulations MAAM-sim team! Looking forward to many more great projects from you.

But there is nothing about upgrades, for those of us who already have the package.

I have the 5th addition CD. Is it upgradeable, or do I have to buy it again???

It looks to me like they upgraded some items in the instumentation so they are clickable in the VC. Also, I think they added a few more paint schemes and integrated all the buzzers and whistles and bells that were previously available as freeware.

Personally, I'm going to get it because my B-25 has been in the back of the hanger for a long time waiting for me to do all the upgrades. Plus the $$ goes to an excellent cause.

Altough I already have an updated version (with all the FSX patches)that works well in FSX, I am tempted to pick this one up as the B-25 is one of my favorites.

Check here for a more detailed explanation of the new package.

If $30 bucks will help to get their P-61 Black Widow into the air someday, it's well worth the money.

Bought, installed, lovely as I expected from Maam.
Yep, a portover, but on Windows xp, FSX Accell,
I love it!

$30 isn't bad. I have an older version of the MAAM-Sim B-25 for FS9. I like the idea of having one with a clickable VC as I do not fly from the 2D cockpits, but with a true FSX native B-25 in development, I'm just not sure I want to spend the money right now.

Bought, installed and flying very nicely.
Although a refined port-over, I've always like the quality of the MAAM products.

My magical thinking tells me that if I get the B-25 it will speed up their FSX R4D.
Pretty magical I fear...:icon_lol:

would love to but,

end of the day its still a port over, and i cant really justify it, I did miss it in FSX after the previous patches caused CTDs so sadly i had to let it go

Im going to wait for another dev to release theirs along with their TBM

Just installed version 7 of this old trooper. VC is enhanced and much more 'clickable'. Excellent stack of re-paints - 43 in all. Previous re-paints work ok with the addition of some of the textures fm version 7.

Added some squeeky brake sounds, shockwave lts and engine smoke. Put a 2000 lb bomb load in as 'ext fuel tank' and scraped off the SARATOGA with a 25 kt head wind. Pity there was no JATO at that time!

What a lovely flt model this a/c has and the sounds are good. This model is no longer 'state of the art' as it was when it arrived for FS 2002, but it still has real presence and like the DC-3 from MAAM is a 'golden oldie'.

Well worth the financial outlay for those still with that other 'golden oldie' FS 2004.

And remember, each purchase isn't putting money in the MAAM-sim developer's wallets, it is going straight into supporting the flying operations and restorations at the Mid Atlantic Air Museum. Thus, the goal in producing and releasing these products is to help support the museum's continued operations, for without them it would be one less means of gaining revenue to help keep resotrations like the museum's P-61 progressing smoothly to completion.

Purchasing an MAAM-sim product is like sending the museum a small cash-donation, and getting a great prize in return. Although it was originally built for FS2002, it still remains the most detailed, authentic, and accurate B-25 for Flight Simulator, with visuals, sounds, and flight dynamics that are legendary for their quality and precision in replicating the B-25 experience.

Bump for an old thread!

Just bought this baby yesterday and I must say I love the plane. It is amazingly good model for its age and certainly has the right feeling in it. FM is also very good. I am happy with it as there aren't that much good alternatives for FSX and money goes to good cause for the museum.

Only thing I'd like to fix is glass transparency. There is no problem with VC glass with Version 7, but there is still this problem with glass textures in external views becoming fully transparent when there is some objects with alpha channels in backround. Not a biggie, but sometimes annoying. Now, I've tried to fiddle with the textures I believe are the correct ones, but I don't seem to get them to behave the right way. Because MAAM-SIM team has quitted, there won't probably be any future fixes for their birds, so I was wondering has anyone managed to get the windows working like they should?

I am almost certain that the problem lies in the model, not in the textures and is pretty much universal in Fs9 models used in FSX.
As such, there won't be a solution.
If you happen to find one, please let me know as I have been looking on and off since 2007:mixedsmi:

Moune, as it is an Fs9 model the textures don't show in Dx10 and it fails on all the usual port-over issues. I will only have a B25 when there is an FsX native aircraft.

Their website is not accessible for me too. I don't know what is going on but perhaps Deano will update us if he still visits SOH.

A little reading of the previous posts would tell you that we were discussing the Vertigo studios FsX native B25 that would have been a creditable successor to the Fs9 MAAM Fs9 model. I fly in Dx10 mode and Fs9 models usually show as white textured ghosts in Dx10. However it appears that Vertigo's website is either no longer available or is undergoing mainteneance.
