When I bought the WoP Bomber pack years back I always looked for this plane to fly as part of my training I wanted to follow like they did in that era. Looking good Tim can't wait.

Great to see you back in business!

That PT-19 was the aircraft I dreamed of becoming my first R/C airplane! They offered a 1.6m version in Blue/Yellow, looked pretty good.... Never had one anyway, this looks like a good chance for a nice flight in sim!

Hurray! I admire you guys that put so much time into building these airplanes. I'm in awe, seriously. I also must admit that this one is completely unknown to me. I've had to hit wikipedia to read up on this trainer! I've never heard of it before.

A very nice choice Tim, but perhaps the best news is the fact you are still in business!

Thanks for making this a good day!

I thought I had never heard of it either; until I realised it was a close relative of the PT-26 Cornell which was flown by the Royal Canadian Air Force.

Hey Tim, I am going to go to Travis AFB probably on Thursday. There is a PT-19 in the museum there, I can swing by the museum and get some exterior shots if you need them. Can't get any of the panel or cockpits as they are covered.

That's a big iffy. Alot more than just adding a canopy. New panels, controls, lights, etc.
Yes I remember the Cox .049 line trainer! Got the Cox Stuka for Xmas on year, promptly crashed it. Then my older brother thought a "trainer" would be a better plane for me.
Well I,uh, you know how this story will end...

Thank you, thankyou, thank you, Tim.

Heck, I still have a Cox PT-19 up in my room. Unfortunately, it's missing the fin/rudder assy. Engine still turns over, even.

I still have my Dad's McCoy 49's a "Red-Head" Olson & Rice and one HUGE engine.. I remember that it developed a full one-quarter horsepower..
My one attempt at Control-Line (back in '58) was a P-40 "Flying Tiger".. Plastic, in-a-box, assembled with a "Ba-Be" .049 inverted engine.. I made almost half a circle before it went into the pavement... at a 45 degree angle.. Just enough to tear the head off the engine!

Piglet;
Are you building the entire plane? Or just doing a Paint?
The one FSX PT-19 I found (in the Flightsim.com library) is just the FS9 version that was half-fast ported-over.
Since my Dad started out in the PT-19 (courtesy of the Army Air Corps 1941), I'd like to obtain a native FSX version with proper Flight Dynamics to replicate his hours in.. Blue & Yellow, of course ;-}

When Piglet releases the PT-19, the number of planes I have added in to FSX will climb to, maybe, 7. Will definitely fly this bird in FSX.

I had that Stuka too when I was 11 (for passing the 11 plus exam). I was flying on the local field and lost my balance and let go. I remember seeing the aircraft spiralling up to a few hundred feet when the motor cut....never did find it:redf:

All this talk of flying by control line gets me nauseous. I remember my days of standing there in the circle. Round and round she goes, and goes, and goes, and goes until it ran out of fuel or crashed.

I never did care for going around in a circle for 5 minutes to test my upchuck reflex :icon_lol:

My only experience with a line control aircraft happened when I was just a wee toddler...maybe 2 years of age. My dad and older brother (by 9 years) had a twin engine line control plane. The story goes, as I don't remember it, is that my brother would use the plane and its lines to knock me down as I toddled around the yard. I would be walking along and he would position himself close to me, then swoop the plane down so that the lines would clip my legs and take me off my feet. What a Bass Turd!

My dad had a little line controlled Bonanza that I was really too young to 'get' but I just flew it power off with centrifugal force until I got too dizzy and fell over:icon_lol: I think he might have had a PT-19 and I think the wings were held on by rubber bands

Thank you,

The price = Buy it to look at, collectors price. Or fly it and be a fool.

In general, The price= The reason I decided to get into virtual flight.

Great model to do Tim.

I remember the Cox .049 P-40 with the neat Sharks Teeth front end!

I think they re-released it in the early 70's because several of the kids in the neighborhood got it for Christmas one year. I don't think any of them lasted more than one go around....they were pretty tough to fly for a newbie.

My dad gave it a go and promptly cracked mine up. He felt bad but by that time I was terrified of the thing. I repaired it years later, after I had learned to work well with styrene....got the engine up and running, immediately smashed it to bits......

The Pt-19 was far more docile, and the rubber bands saved mine several times.
