The AW-109 helicopter charter, produced by Italian-based AgustaWestland, was originally designed to fly rescue missions and act as an emergency ambulance in the mountainous regions of Switzerland. The first Agusta A109, the A109A made his maiden flight on 4 August 1971 and the first production deliveries took place in late 1976. Later developments brought the A109 improvements such as a greater transmission rating, redesigned tailboom and a new tail rotor driveshaft, improved rotor blade life and modern avionics. The Agusta A109 became the AW109 following the 2000 merger of Agusta and Westland Helicopters to form AgustaWestland.
Since its inception, the AW109 has been modified and improved upon and now utilizes twin engines that enhance safety while flying in a variety of conditions over a range of 512 nautical miles. The Power variant is a 3 ton class eight seat helicopter powered by two Pratt & Whitney PW206C engines with FADEC. The spacious cabin is designed to be fitted with a number of modular equipment packages for quick and easy conversion between roles. This helicopter’s maneuverability allows it to take advantage of rooftop landing pads in even the most crowded urban environments, offering business executives nearly door-to-door service. The helicopter has high climb rate and cruise altitude of 13,000 feet. This executive helicopter has a cruise speed of 170 knots, making the commute from Manhattan to Newark easy and painless. The private charter of an AW109 provides up to seven passengers with ultimate luxury.
This products represents the AW109E Power variant.
Features:

Thanks for the kind words.. I actually like the bird since it actually has an autopilot I am not limited to flying it locally anymore. If I want to go on long ventures I can have the AP do at least some of the flying.

Looks great, so bought it. Can't download it. I guess the international link to NZ is overloaded so d/l speeds are only around 100k. Timed out twice. Really unprofessional that "resume" is not supported. Download express doesn't work either.
Still, no biggie - I'll try at work tomorrow.

Grrr....

Really appreciate your making the manual available for a read before making a purchase. Always fun to memorize the sale brochure (thinking more of a new car (or helicopter) purchase.

But in the meantime, I'm getting a "404 - File Not Found" error when I try to access it. :-(

Well, finally got it downloaded from work. Installed it and took her for an introductory spin last night. Have to say, barely started exploring this machine yet - need to read the manual - but gosh it's impressive. Definitely the best helo on my HDD. Just wish that autopilot was also available on the MD902!
Thanks Milviz, Nemeth team and Cirrus - I'll have to grab that NZ paint - looks great!

Is any chance to do something with pilot figure? I can't see it without crying.

My first initial impressions from a few quick flights.
Looks great, fairly stiff on computer but on par with other high end helis.
Flight model feels like a X-plane model if that makes any sense to some.
Some odd behavior. Took off, put the nose nose and began forward flight. No matter how much rudder and stick I could not maintain centerline of the runway. Looked up and I had the heli almost on its side. Took my feet off the rudders to verify I was not cross controlling but I was not. I am running Active Sky and checked the winds which were at 6, not hurricaine force which the heli was behaving. Other flights the heli behaved. This is with all realism setting maxed.
Tonight I plan to really wring this heli out and dig a little deeper.
At any rate from a real heli pilot, THANKS for providing what for me is a true dream heli I only wished I could fly in real life. I mean any heli that has wheels that retract, a autopilot is rarer than chicken's teeth.:applause:

I will talk with the Nemeth's about the pilot model. Also they have already begun working on a SP1 listening to what everyone has been saying about the 109.. The flight dynamics are one of the things on that list. They were also supposed to be working on a HTR profile for the 109, but I haven't heard anything about that recently. Last I heard they had talked to the person that made HTR to seek permission to do a commercial release of a profile for it. Again I have not heard about it in awhile so I am not sure if it is in the cards or not. They are working on the stock FSX flight dynamics though. I will point them this way, but for faster support please post in their support section over on the Aussiex.org forums.

I also just bought it - such a beautiful chopper! The best in my hangar... but I echo everything you write about the FDE... really looking forward to the SP.
