Sorry, I made a stupid mistake in this thread. I mean of course Windows XP Pro Titanium Edition and not Platinium !...:p87:

As I'm still getting some problems when playing CFS1 on Windows XP Professional and home editions (for instance the impossibility of flying missions or using the no-CD file), I was considering formatting my older PC and re-installing it with Windows 98 SE in the order to be able to play older flightsims such as CFS1, FS98 and their add-ons or Rowan' Flying Corps and Mig Alley. Someone told me however I'd better install Windows XP Pro Titanium Edition, that this software would allow the installation and the use of all those beautiful old W95 and W98 programs. Has anybody more information about this possibility? Thank you! :)

You shouldn't have any problems running CFS1 itself on XP (Pro or Home). The no-cd patch also works just fine on XP. Just make sure you're logged in with an admin level account when you go to install (and play).

There are some add-on planes that don't work on XP and the TailGunner2 add-on doesn't work on XP either. The non-working planes may be hampering your missions.

I suspect someone told you about the XP Pro Itanium (no T) CD...which by the way is being discontinued in favor of newer 64-bit support methods. There's no reason for yo to consider switching to that version unless you have an Itanium processor.

All versions of XP have those Win9x compatiblity modes. I don't use them unless absolutely neccessary...CFS1 shouldn't need it.

Thanks a lot for the info, Moparmike. Sorry to be so late but I've been away from the forum for quite long time.

You say: <<<Just make sure you're logged in with an admin level account when you go to install (and play).>>> How can I exactly do that?... Should I delete and reinstall CFS1?

I have already tried to use the compatibility mode but didn't get any result.

Greetings,
