Txnetcop (http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/showthread.php?t=52018), I have overclocked my Q6600 G0 to 2.8688GHz with vCore set to "Auto" in the BIOS. CPU-Z shows the Core Voltage as 1.248V. Is this the measured voltage or that read from the processor spec?
The FSB and Memory clocks are unlinked in the BIOS with the memory running at 800MHz. I cannot increase the FSB beyond 1275MHz, if I increase vCore would it allow a faster FSB?

some of those Q6600s are locked. The thing to do is try to move the voltage up incrementally and then check and see if it allows you to move your fsb

ananda,
I have had a Q6600 G0 running 24/7 crunching WCG (100% CPU utilization) for over a month with the following settings (Intel D975XBX2 motherboard). Settings in BIOS: CPU 1.4 volts, RAM 2.32 volts, ref. freq. 266, mem. freq. 667 (4/5 ratio), FSB 375. Core temps run low to mid 60's - air cooled.

Thanks David. I can't seem to get mine to run with an FSB greater than about 319. vCore is 1.3 and memory and cpu busses are unlinked.

That's that !#@$ 680i motherboard! I have one and hate it.
Try setting ref to 266 and running ram unlinked at 533, then 667, then 800. I was getting some errors and reboots at 667 and tried 800 just to see and that cured that problem. Bump all the voltages up in the BIOS a couple of steps and shoot for 1400. I had problems in the 1200 range. Problems went away at 1400 (350). I'll see what settings I currently have and will them post later.
EDIT: That Zalman 9700 may not cut it for a high overclock. Watch your temps. If they go above mid 60's, reduce your overclock. I have a couple of the 9700's but ended up switching to Ultra 120 Extremes. The 9700 does just fine on a dual core but it isn't quite up to the quads. NOTE: I never tried a 9700 on a G0 stepping CPU, just B3.

Thanks again David. Yes it is a 680i mobo. I have the RAM set to 800 but haven't tried the FSB above 1300 (325). I would be interested to see your settings.

FSB: 1423, Unlinked, 800
Limit CPUID MaxVal, CPU Thermal Control, and C1E all Disabled
These voltages are being used on a Q6600 B3, 680i SLI, and 3GB RAM. You should be able to use lower voltages.
CPU Core: 1.43125
CPU FSB: 1.5
Memory: 2.325
SPP: 1.55
MCP: 1.65
SPP <-> MCP: 1.55
NOTE: Be sure to check in System Monitor (right side in BIOS), Dynamic Fan Control (press enter) for default temp to get 100% fan speed. Mine defaults to 70°C!!! I set it to 51°C. That's as low as it will let me set it.
