Nelson Piquet, Jr. and Kimi Raikkonen will be driving in tonight's race. Piquet has been there all season and has run real good, Kimi will be driving the second Kyle Busch Motorsports truck, #15. Race begins at 8:00 PM EDT on SPEED.

PIquet, Jr. has looked better and better with every race, I predict he'll be in victory circle before long. Kimi had a bad qualifying run, but he did qualify. In all fairness all three KBM trucks had loose handling problems in practice and qualifying. Good qualifying run for our homeboy Timmy Peters to get P4. He was born in Danville and lives in my birthplace, Providence, NC.

You can look for Austin Dillon to be in a Cup ride within two years, boy is dang good.

ya know...i'm not a Kyle Busch (but i'm gettin close) fan but omg that guy can drive...he was in a dead sideways perpendicular slide and managed to keep it off the outside wall by giving the truck just enough gas...while sliding sideways...to avoid the outside wall....then went down the banking to the inside wall...off the gas...on the brakes....didn't hit anything...then o by the way went on to win the race!!

I couldn't keep my open all night, but I did see that save. No, I'm not a fan either, but I will give credit where it is due. Kyle is one hell of a driver. If he can control his attitude and temper, there is nothing standing between him and a Sprint Cup championship or two... or three... or four...

And Kimi made a dang good debut with his 15th place. :applause:

But y'all know how much I "do" like Rowdy. He's the best driver I have seen in NASCAR since David Pearson. I would love to see him drive F-1 before his career wanes. As to his arrogance at times, when you can walk the walk, you can talk the talk.

Hey All,

To me talent that doesn't produce doesn't count.

Rowdy Busch is in his 7th full season in Cup. So just for comparison sake lets look at:

Kyle Busch - in his first 6 full years - 19 wins 0 Championships.
Jimmie Johnson - in his first 6 full years - 33 wins 2 Championships.
Jeff Gordon - in his first 6 years - 42 wins 3 Championships and raced in 28 fewer races than either Jimmie Johnson or Kyle Busch.

Lets throw Hamlin in just for fun.

Denny Hamlin in 5 full years of Cup racing - 16 wins 0 Championships. He might tie Busch this year if he gets on a roll.

So if Kyle is so talented where is the performance? Where is the walk the walk? David Pearson certainly walked the walk. All the drivers out there can slide a car without hitting anything - we've certainly seen Jimmie do it a few weeks ago.

Kyle wins a lot in Trucks and in the Nationwide but he always has the best equipment on the track (and so did Kimi) and Kyle isn't facing the "big boys" - what is impressive about that?

I don't get it.

EasyEd,
Easy to answer your question & that's the TEAM that the race for.

It's no coincidence the number of wins/championships that Gordon/Johnson have & them being on the same quality Rick Hendrick Motorsports.

Just like football....Tom Brady would NOT have all those Superbowl rings if he was on the Detroit Lions ;)....Montana wouldn't have had all those Superbowl rings if he played for the Buccaneers...;)

Hey All,

OK Panther Just one more...

Tony Stewart in his first 6 years in Cup - 19 wins and 1 Championship and a 2nd in the points. He drove for Joe Gibbs Racing all 6 of those years.

Gibbs is unquestionably a Tier 1 team. Kyle lacks nothing in the way of equipment.

On a side note,
It would be interesting to see Johnson & Gordon do a swap with Reuteman & Truex Jr to see how things would fare...

Ed, you're only counting Cup races, where JJ has clearly had the best car and CC the past five years. Let's see JJ race Nationwide (where he was junk when he drove in it as the Busch series), and the Trucks and see how he fairs. JJ is a good driver and a better person, one of the best people you'll in NASCAR, I only rile him because he's a front runner. I do not dislike the man personally, he's too nice a bloke.

You look at your record book and count all race series and Rowdy Busch at age 26 in 3rd on all-time NASCAR event wins with 97, which ties your and my ace Mr. Pearson.

And pays too much money! Why do you think also-rans and champs from F-1 are migrating to NASCAR. You only make big bucks in F-1 if you are the elite.

That pretty well sums it up Caz.
I think Marcus Ambrose summed it up very well when he commented that simply by completing a full season of NASCAR with no wins and mostly mid field finishes the money was excellent and there was no need to think about anything but either investing or spending it!

So how can NASCAR afford to pay more drivers more than F1? It would appear that the NASCAR machine actually brings in more revenue than F1.....

Sponsors and contingency money. NASCAR is not as rich as three years ago before the NYSE crash and it is becoming increasingly more difficult to find big money spenders. That's what happens when one whores themselves to big corporations. It was a lot simpler and more fun before the big money people took it over in the mid-1980s.
