Makes me wonder which card would be suitable for a relatively inexpensive, yet worthwhile upgrade from my current (dated) 768Mb GeForce 8800 GTX.

GTX 460..... must remember that. I run a 260 now and it is getting due for an upgrade. To get rid of my jerky video maybe ... :icon_lol:

Seems like a 1GB GTX 460 would be the card of choice, with excellent to good ratings across the board for the 768MB version.

I've used the 2gig version of the 460 for a few months now and the 2gig version is useful with this tweak... http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/showthread.php?51263-an-aa-mode-that-s-worth-a-try!

I've read about a lot of stability issues with the 560Ti when it was released, have those been worked out?

I suggest that you never trust "rumors" regarding hardware stability. Many users are bashing their hardware and try every sort of placebo performance improvements, that finally result to malfunctions, or instability.

If it were to perfrom much better, the OEM would have released the product as such.

From my experience, 99.9% of hardware stability rumors are related to childish bashing of it.

The GTX 560 is a proven winner...it is everything the 460 was meant to be but never measured up!
