Hi Ted,
Just a question about the above CPU.
I have just fitted one in my rig.
The previous CPU I had was a 64 x2-5200, which was OC to 3mgz,
is the 6400 over clockable above it's stock 3.2mgz and if so how high do you think it would go.
My Mobo is Abit AN9 x32
4 Gig of DDR 2 PC800 Patriot Ram
700 watt PSU
8800GTX.
Regards
Bruce.

Bruce it is overclockable to beyond that range but not without water cooling. I'm delayed right now testing some new AMD stuff I can't talk about and next week I will post AMD info to include ocing AMD chips. That x2-6400 is the best of the AMDs right now, but there is a surprise coming those you love AMD. It looks like Intel will still be king of the Core 2 Duos and Quads with Penryn but AMDs newest is no slouch either.

I have it in an Antec 900 case, and its fitted with an Asus Square Pro CPU Cooler. At Idle its showing 36deg so may be I could try to squeeze a little more out of it.
Not that I need to, getting a full 35fps locked as it is, drops to 30 now and then, but A O.K. for now.

actually there is currently no correct way to measure the exact heat in dual core processor AMD or Itel. There are two programs you can use that measure different aspects of the core usage but neither is accurate. It is running hotter than you are aware of.

I will not over cook it, I will consider Water Cooling in the near future.
Thanks again,
Bruce.
