Race is Red Flagged due to rain...
Accident takes out a few cars to include Patrick & De Silvestro and guess what? - once again Castroneves is mired in controversy as to whether or not he caused the incident...

Danica talked about the start & the cars having "so much horsepower"....(650hp)....

Good thing she didn't drive in the early 90's with the 900-1000hp cars.....:monkies:

Hey All,

What fantastic racing in the rain?

I saw the start of that thing. Castroneves didn't cause any of that. Dario used Helio in a bumper car strategy to straighten out his loose car. No fault of Helio's whatsoever. Bummer for the women behind him...

As for Danica's comment on horsepower. I don't know for sure just how much difference there is in the power handling characteristics of a 650 hp car versus a 950 hp car. Lots of hp is no good if you can't put the power to the ground - you just spin the wheels easier and sooner. I'd be curious about the power to weight ratios and how much power actually gets transmitted to the rear wheels of todays versus yesteryears cars.

But if you really want to put 900 hp to the ground this is how you do it.

EasyEd,
Generally speaking, since the start of the IRL, the "dominators" were the ones that started out driving the 900-1000hp cars....

Switched over to see the replay of the Denny Hamlin Charity race on SPEED due to the red flag. I figured it would be a fiasco. That's not racing, that's orginized caos. F-1 cab drive in the rain, IRL cannot. Every race I have ever seem IRL race in the rain has been nothing but disaster. I don't know why. Better they wait until tomorrow and hopefully it will be dry. Doubtful though, being Sao Paulo.

If they have called the race, go to SPEED and see the Bristol Speed Trials followed by the MotoGP. The Bristol Speed Trials are a hoot, watch it if you can.

I think that is a fair game, race as it was, might have been folly for fans, but it was a disaster for the people who have to race and maintain the cars.
