Per Phil:

The Voodoo and Trojan are now up as freeware in the Virtavia area.

The Voodoo is straight FS9 only, but the Trojan includes a native FSX version, bumps, shadows, everything,

Thanks for the H/U.

I know i made many, many hours in Piglets version for FS9. Just love the plane, ever since i saw it appear in the movie "Return to the river Kwai" representing a Japanese fighter.

Edit: Admins, perhaps worth a sticky?

Nice exterior on the Trojan, but the VC looks bad, so I did something unspeakable: Merged it with the default P51. I feel good flying it now.

Try a merge with Tim Conrad's excellent Skyraider. More in line with the time frame of the Trojan.

And what if it's a modernized Trojan? :icon_lol::icon_lol:

It's really not that far off from the mustang, both are built by north american, both have the same overall panel shape, similar throttle levers, etc. The problem is really on the canopy frame and the fact it's a biplace... plus I used what I believe is the best possible eyepoint, showing very little of the external model from the VC without compromising visibility. I can give the coordinates should anyone else try this.

Anyway I'm sticking, but others might like it better. I'm sure there is some payware that's more suitable. It's a fun model and I can only thank Virtavia for releasing it free of charge.

Don't forget Tim Conrad released several very nice T-28's for FS2004, which have very nice VC's as well, for anyone looking to swap out the VC on the Virtavia-model. They are available at Flightsim.com

Good suggestion, but I don't think they'd work unless they are native FSX models. FS2004 model files don't have a separate interior .mdl file.

I didn't want to add this news to the Iris Raptor thread 'cause that would be in poor taste, right?

But Phil (aka Alphasim/Virtavia) has released the F-22 Raptor in both FS9 and FSX variants over at http://www.easyfly.co.nz/Freeware/index.php (http://www.easyfly.co.nz/Freeware/index.php)

In a note from Phil, "..., so there's no point hanging onto ours now - it's on the freeware site as of now. I also included an FSX portover version I'd been experimenting with. It works well, only fault is some minor graphics issues, the oleos are black and so are some small parts in the VC, other than that it's all good. They are both set up as Virtavia .msi's too, not Zips. No sounds included, but the full panel is there, the FSX one also has DDS textures, Virtavia thumbs, the works."

Granted it's a portover and not "native" but pricewise (cue up the MC Hammer music) "Can't touch this!".

I'm thinking the oleo issue might be an alpha channel situation, perhaps there's a fix?
