A good evening to everybody! :wavey:

I just uploaded an alternative livery created by touching up SOH's member Smashing Time's original repaint of stock B5N2 Kate "BI-181", that I demirrored a couple of months ago. The resulting new historical skin depicts B5N2 "BII-307", carrier Hiryu Level Bomber Force, flown by an unknown pilot during the Pearl Harbour attack. I got the idea from the attached profile I downloaded from Wings Palette.

This could be an alternative repaint for the duplicated repaints in Talon's "PHP2-Kates.zip" pack, meant to provide both torpedo and level Kate bombers for PHP2's Pearl scenario. All to variety and historical immersion-factor advantage when flying Talon's Pearl missions.

Enjoy!

P.S.: I re-attached the last two screenies from a previous post, just to show the aircraft underside and the folded wings effect with the camouflaged wing bottom outer panels. Since then, I corrected both fuselage "Hinomaru"s according to WP's profile, which shows them painted solid red without the white outline.

...to replace the duplicated Kate LB skin for the carrier Kaga: "AII-376", Level Bomber Force, flown by an unknown pilot during the Pearl attack.

Again, the profile comes from Wings Palette.

Cheers!

..yet another one!

I realised, after reading the nice early-war IJN codes and fuselage bands colour guide posted by Jagdflieger, that there's a small imprecise classification for a Kate skin in the PHP2-Kate pack.

"AI-325" Kate (the original overhaul pack repaint from TheB24Guy), listed as a Kaga aircraft, should be instead assigned to the Akagi's fleet. In fact, according to Jagd's notes, "AI" code and single red fuselage band identified aircrafts flying from the carrier Akagi, the Pearl Harbour attack Kido Butai leader.

Aircrafts flying off the carrier Kaga wore "AII" tailcodes and dual red fuselage bands. In my PHP2 install, "AI-325" just became my Akagi LB Kate skin.

The correct classification would leave us without historical repaints for Kaga's Kate raiders, this is why I decided to do a Level and a Torpedo Bomber Force repaints of actual Kates which flew off carrier Kaga during the "Day of Infamy".
I already anticipated the level bomber "AII-376" in the above post, here I am attaching my "AII-324", carrier Kaga Torpedo Bomber Force, work-in-progress repaint shot for your evaluation, together with the Wings Palette's profile I am following.
According to Wings Palette, this aircraft was flown by Petty Officer, 1st class, Hirotake Iwata, credited with a torpedo hit on the U.S.S. Oklahoma.

This will also help completing my idea of reducing duplicated Kate skins (torpedo and level bombers) in the Pearl Harbour scenario, sticking to PHP2's concept of closely simulate that historical day in CFS2.

Let me tell you, it's real fun flying Bearcat/Thorson's P-40B (the very best around!) over Oahu, hunting a whole bunch of raiding aircrafts all different from one another!

I am very grateful to Dombral for uploading a similar skin a couple of weeks ago. It gave me the correct pink (IT IS pink, isn't it?) colour hue to apply to the tail section of "AII-324". Before Dombral's uploads, I had given up doing it from scratch, since I am partally colour blind, I'd have never guessed the correct colour! It's the same reason why I would never became a full-fledged repainter, but just a cut-'n-paste specialist.....:icon_lol:

Cheers!
