Today is the 116th Birthday of the U.S. Navy Chief Petty Officer. Established 1 April 1893 by U.S. Navy Regulation Circular No. 1 (http://www.tpub.com/content/advancement/14144/css/14144_171.htm), dated 13 March 1893, the rank of Chief Petty Officer holds a special place among military ranks. The Chief Petty Officer Creed (http://www.navychief.com/creed.html) very effectively tells the story of what it means to be a Chief, and much of it can be summed up with these words from The Creed: “… only in the United States Navy does E-7 carry unique responsibilities no other armed force throughout the world carries, nor which grants privileges to it’s enlisted personnel comparable to the privileges and responsibilities you are now bound to observe and are expected to fulfill.”

GO NAVY!:salute:

Happy Birthday to all Chiefs everywhere!

Almost forgot it! My plaque with the Chief's Creed hangs right over my desk here.

My plaque with the Chief's Creed hangs right over my desk here.
Same here, it's up on the wall along with the presentation certificate for my retirement flag flown over the USS Arizona (BB-39). The flag is in my shadowbox. Happy Birthdy to my fellow Chiefs. :salute:

Best wishes to all Navy Chiefs, past and present on this special day.

Over the years I've worked with a number of Chiefs in the joint command community and to a man, they all have been stand up soldiers... er, I mean sailors!
