Folks, we have the awesome Vickers Viscount, the world's first turboprop liner now available with a VC by the great Jens. You can download it from Simviation.

I have a "personal attachment" to the Viscount... according to my folks it was the first aircraft I flew in on as a baby, and the only aircraft whose seats I soiled with personal effluents.

Thank you Jens.
Sid

Me too, flew as a litle kid in the 60th several times with this aircraft from Hannover to Berlin, visiting my grandparents during hollidays. This "BEA" paint from these times is included in this package, great.
For the Viscount i use this sound:

The download description says that the FSX version is in native FSX format.
Unfortunately it's an autoinstaller in the archive, so I cannot check. Anybody can confirm ?

Just finished the Empire download and they are FsX native! Well done Jens for getting to grips with the FsX sdk:ernae:
Just waiting for the Viscount to finish downloading and I'm almost certain that will be native too:engel016:

I have, too, just downloaded the Empire to check the MDL files and I am still downloading the Viscount. I am really happy that Jens figured out the FSX SDK!

Thanks Sis,Big_mike and Jens for th HU, sounds and fine planes. If only the first portovers were of this quality. VCs even have internal shadows, a refinement not often seen, especially in freebees.

Like Sid2008, this was apparently the first aircraft I ever flew on also. My Grandfather was the Comptroller for Vickers in Canada about the time this was rolling out. I'd of asked for an Air Canada paint to show off, but we just recently ran out of relatives to show it to.
Thank you for the aircraft!

Roger, how did you get this repaint to work? I tried adding it, but I can't alter anything in the aircraft.cfg file (i.e. I cannot save the .cfg file, because "access is denied"). I'm using FSX on a Win7 (64) under administrator rights. It does seem to be a great aircraft!

Do a Google on "Take Ownership for Win7" and follow the installation directions. Install the free download on your Win 7 (64) system. Then, all that is needed is to RIGHT click on the folder containing the file you wish to modify, left click on the menu option that says "Take Ownership". This will open a small window asking you to confirm. Click Okay and let it do its thing. (It will modify the user access parameters for every file in that folder.) Afterward, you should be able to save to any file in the folder including the aircraft.cfg file using standard Windows editing functions. I use this all the time on my Win7 (64) system and it works well.

And a tip for anyone reinstalling FSX someday: Do NOT install in the C:\Program Files or Program Files (x86) folders. Create a Games folder and put it in there. Then you won't have to deal with UAC permissions to change/modify files.
