That was interesting! I had no idea just how many "steps" are involved with modern track re-construction... :bump:

These men are the Buckingham Lining Bar Gang. They demonstrate how track work used to be done back in the day. I saw them in person about 10 years ago, they're a great bunch of guys and put on a good demo.

That's how its done in Europe. Here in the U.S., wooden ties and spikes are still the order of the day, although you will find concrete in some areas. Even with wooden ties, the process has become more automated.
