got rid of cool web, but that abetter internet garbage and guard are still there! I'd like to follow the directions, but I don't wanna mess up my family PC. My brother is in HUGE trouble.

You've tried Ad-Aware and Spybot Search & Destroy?

yep, many many many times. In both normal and safe modes. They can find the problems easy enough, but they can't remove them.

Are these Program's showing up in your Window's Task Manager when you bring it up (Ctrl+Alt+Delete)?
If so, have you tried stopping the processes and then manually deleting the files?
Don't know a great deal about dealing with Spyware, but that's how I got rid of a batch I had a little while back (Ended up formatting the PC in the end to be sure though).

A useful program is at CCLEANER.COM
It reads all on the PC plus whats hiding in the registry.Gives you options to analyze/remove etc. Useful tool.
