Wolfi does some great stuff, takes me back to the days of the Metal Dreams Topsy in CFS2.

Yep, Wolfi does nice stuff. His Helldiver, Stuka B model and Nell are all nice planes and will always be in my CFS2 and FS9 installs. The "Topsy" will be added to my hangar for sure. Just wondering how she will look in gleaming, reflective bare metal....hmmmmmmmm!

After fixing the usual conversion engine idle issue, it flies pretty nicely about what you'd expect for an early 40s twin engine transport. I also added the missing entries for the fltsim section of the aircraft.cfg to make it easier to find in the aircraft menu and allow for proper ATC function.

It's a keeper now.

I like this, yes. Always room in my hangars for Japanese planes.

You guys like a FS2004 version? Then I need a panel cfg for FS2004, I can make a quick MDL for FS2004. For a final FS2004 version I need more time.

In the zip below is an untested FS2004 MDL file
About the model, the outlines are I will say close to the real aircraft, I unfortunately don’t found any 3 view drawing or useable picture about the internal aircraft.

The Topsy looks great....and I could care less if it isn't totally accurate. The lines of the plane are sleek, smooth, and...dare I say it....sexy! The panel set up is nice and clean and really doesn't need much work to be fully usable in FS2004, other than adding a radio stack, a GPS (for folks like me who can't find their way through the FS9 world without having an arrow pointing us in the right direction). Toss in some lights in the aircraft.cfg file and this plane is ready for the Big Show.

If you don't mind, I will take a crack at modifying the MDL file for the civilian transport and give it full reflective textures....the plane will look great with gleaming bare metal skins.

Hello Wolfi and thanks again for a wonderful aircraft. Your MC-20/Ki-57 looks great and works well in FS9. The outlines are accurate and the interior is very nice. Just a few tweaks and some personal modifications (lights, instruments, etc.) and it was ready to go. I have been flying the MC-20 around Japan for the last three days and it is a real joy. Well done sir!

These gauges are just my preferences but they do make a big difference.

Haven't tackled the lights yet but that's next -- unless someone beats me to it.:wavey:

Still considering dropping the specular down (about 50%) as she looks pretty glossy in the sunlight.

The major thing I had to do to it was fix the aircraft.cfg to where the engines would idle. I couldn't keep them running at idle as it was and the by going about 1/3 throttle I could keep #1 going but never could keep #2 running. So, I dug into the aircraft.cfg to this section...

And changed min_throttle_limit from 0.000000 to 0.200000. The engines idle just fine now and both will come up to full power. Sure beats trying to fly it on just one that won't even idle without dying.

For all who like to modify the MDL the fuselage material is named as "fuselage" that will include all the outer materials. The material of the aileron and ruder is called "canvas". When I finished the CFS2 versions I will do a FS2004 version also. So any help with the CFG and air file would be welcomed.

What I did with the aircraft.cfg was to install the Ki-57, then start up FS and take it for a quick test flight to see what needed done. Once I'd entered the sim with it, FS automatically generated the needed bits for it and after the test flight I just went back into the aircraft.cfg and added other needed entries and adjusted the engine idle as stated above. The .air file remains the same. I did add some of racarton's mods as well.

I've zipped up the aircraft.cfg as I've got it and attached it. IMHO, it just needs some lights added at present.

The commented out "fx_vclight_f6.fx" is a pale blue (great for night flying) and can be used if the standard VC light is too bright. Let me know if you have any problems with this.

You are very welcome. Does the aircraft cast a landing light beam? I assumed that it didn't, so I did not add the entry.

There is no "std"landing beam but with Shockwave lights, ya get an awesome effect anyway so I always add 'em. The visual impact on take offs and landings is just way too cool to ignore.

Might have to check out those lights if you can add a working landing light. Some aircraft I don't hardly fly at night as I can't see the redwoods at the end of the runway.
