He should have kicked him in the cajones, and then claimed it was just a 'camera trick'... not real at all. :medals:

This clip of an another ex-astronaut shows also a certain degree of crankiness. http://fsfiles.org/flightsimshots/images/573_laugh.gif (http://fsfiles.org/flightsimshots/view-573_laugh.gif)

Yes, this is one of those times, just walking away doesn't cut it..:running:

The Fool should know better to say such things to His Elders..:banghead:

The Fool needed a lesson in civil behavior as my Grandfather would say..
And I am pleased Buzz got it corrected..:applause:

Perhaps the "reporter" will learn from this if he has any sense at all..
I do hope that this person is able to learn that is..

Reporter?? Are you serious??? Looked and sounded like a misguided trekkie to me (OK guys don't take it personal). I took my kid to a book signing years ago where Buzz signed our copy of Encounter with Tiber. She was a bit too young to know who he was but I sure shook his hand.

Looked to me like the so called reporter asked for it.

Whilst I agree in general with the sentiment, I wonder about the "you guys" bit in the sentence. I don't see why the USA should have to shoulder the responsibility of any such endeavour. The costs in R&D are enormous yet every other nation sits back and reaps the benefits. Is it not time we all got together and jointly funded such a project? On a global scale the costs would not be too onerous yet the advances for humanity would be immense.
I am not having a dig at the OP who rightly suggests we get back there, just the sentiment that everyone seems to expect the US to be the instigators and ultimately financiers.
I am not American btw.
Oh! and as a post script, once nuclear fusion is worked out satisfactorily, there is good reason to believe that a specific isotope of Helium (I think it's Helium 3) would be a good fuel. It is rare on Earth but guess what planetary body is swimming in the stuff. That may be the spur.
Good to see that Buzz at his age still has a great right hook, that dweeb deserved it and some.

well lets face it, whilst the crews might be more multinational these days NASA is still american, and, at the moment, and for the forseable future at any rate the only to have the means to manage it. I dont really care who goes back anyways, i just wish someone would :engel016:

That dweeb "reporter" guy hopefully now has got a good sized "moon crater" on his face...

I remember as a 5 year old boy with my Dad watching the Apollo space craft streak across the night sky while it was orbiting the earth in 1969, saw it as a white speck moving rapidly across the starry night sky. Awesome.

Not sure it will be NASA anytime soon, but thankfully somebody is thinking about it; follow this link for some interesting news (http://www.theregister.co.uk/2011/02/08/google_x_prize_robot_musk_rocket_signing/).

HouseHobbit, the words "reporter" and "sense" do not fit in the same sentence; unless you are using the word sense to mean "ill-informed lowlife pond scum"?

Unfortunately, the decision to travel to the moon or Mars is a political decision.

Bush OK'd the involvement of the moon in a future Mars mission, and Obama scrubbed it for a less clear future of placing humans in orbit of mars before 2040 ( I think that was the message ).

What I get from this is: Bush got a proposal from NASA and gave it a green light, and Obama actively interfered with NASA's planning.

Bad move to tell NASA how to do it's job... Obama should have just canceled the entire project. Politicians have no place in scientific exploration. If the USA can't afford it, fine, but don't add to the danger by prescribing shortcuts to the process... the shortcut being "we've already been to there" ( the moon ), so lets cut that out of the process and save a few pennies.

I don't mean this as a criticism of President Obama specifically. President Johnson actively fiddled with the space program... but if he hadn't, then we never would have landed humans on the moon.

My own feeling is this: we have made stunning advancements in technology that should allow robotic exploration to achieve incredible results in exploring both the moon and Mars.

As someone has already suggested , " kick him in the kahoonies(my slang version of male anatomical parts), then as he is bending over in pain , upper cut him under the jaw(slightly off centered so it will break in more than one piece), then walk over to him laying on the floor and step on his "kahoonies" and make one final statement before walking off , " you may want to retract that statement , a --le !

Good for you Buzz ! I feel better now .

I don't understand...

Men on the Moon... I wonder, I wonder... why famous theory of conspiracy talk to us about that... because... the most incredible challenge, at this time,
was not the launched ( lunar module and spacecraft Apollo ) ... but the launcher...

Apollo Saturn V... the most powerfull machine ever made... a monster... fire of the sky...
