View Full Version : Alphasim Tornado F3 - deleting reheat sound effect

I really enjoy flying Alphasim's Tornado F3 & find the exterior modelling & textures are superb but there's one 'fly in the ointment' for me & that's the reheat (afterburner) sound.

The sound is billed as an 'AirshowFX' effect but i'd rather do without it as IMHO it's annoying & sounds nothing like the real thing.

Can anyone direct me to the sound file that I should find & bin to get rid of it?

Much appreciated.

Mike

If you are not afraid to fiddle about with files, this is what you need to do:

1) Look into the FSX root Effects folder and open file fx_ALPHA_Tonka_AB.fx with notepad.
2) Delete or comment out the embedded sound section:

[Sound]
FileName=Rocket02.wav
MinAttenuationDistance=5000.00
Looping=FALSE

Or use another, less annoying soundfile like this:

[Sound]
FileName=ai_lgjet01.wav
MinAttenuationDistance=5000.00
Looping=FALSE

That's great. Many thanks for the fix.
