Gary in blistering guitar rock mode in an early Old Grey Whistle Test for the launch of his first solo album. What a bunch of mates to play with though: Phil Lynott, Scott Gorham, Cozy Powell and Don Airey. A bit sobering for an ageing rock fan like me to now realise that three of that line are no more. Only Scott Gorham and Don Airey survive.

Then in a Phil Lynott tribute gig in Dublin 2005 with a Thin Lizzy classic alongside old Lizzy mates Scott Gorham and Brian Downey on drums.

My sister told me last night, couldnt believe it mate, he was a great artist and guitarist. listen to alot of his stuff. R.I.P.

Parisienne Walkways was a great track.

This is the first incarnation of Gary I saw when he was in the instrumental group Collesium II in the mid 70's

Sad to see our rock and roll icons disappearing. It truly was a unique era that will never be repeated much like WWII!

Was really shocked when I heard the news last night, am a big fan of his and Thin Lizzy.

His 'Still got the Blues' album is a classic.

A great loss to the world of Rock, wonder if Phil's up there waiting for him...they'll be rockin' in heaven tonight..

Man, that was a a shock. Another one of my heroes has gone.
I'm going to see Thin Lizzy on Friday in Hamburg, or what's left of them. Only Scott Gorham and Brian Downey left of the old lineup. Wish Brian Robertson would awake from his alcohol coma and play some nice riffs for us again, LOL. Guess it'll become more of a ceremony than a concert under those circumstances.

That last time I saw Robbo was at this 2005 dublin tribute gig to Phil Lynott. He was passable then, but could he hold a whole show together mmmm?

With Scott and Brian it should be a good show Mathias, who does the vocals though?

I own the DVD of the 2005 tribute concert and what you say about Brian pretty much sums it up for me:
Not sure if he can make an entire gig.
