I was pointed to this documentary on another site where I'm a contributor. Since I know there are more than a few musicians here I thought you all might find it interesting. Very interested to hear what the SOH thinks.

Aye, you really have to search to find good roots music. You have entertainers and artists. Entertainers are around to produce mass quantities of marketable music that appeal to targeted audiences. Artists create their music because it is what they want to create themselves which some people will enjoy and some wont. I think today mostly what is heard on the mass media scale is the entertainer variety. I did read somewhere that because of the hard times that the blues was making a resurgence in popularity. Tho as a blues lover, I am quite happy that blues is relatively obscure. I think it has a shot at staying more 'pure' that way. I shudder to think of the greedy music industry taking the energy and soul out it by creating watered down inauthentic blues for mass consumption.

IMHO While Blues Brothers 2000 hardly fills the shoes of the orignal, the music was awesome. And as the kid says, it is all about the music. :salute:
