Maybe I'll be able to run it tomorrow night.

So far got to Data file 7, now download speed has dropped to 4.7K/sec.
This will take about 30hours at this rate.

I am interested in the Flight Planning module. If it is good, I might buy the program for that part alone. Weather looks interesting, also.

It's gonna take forever! :banghead:

I started download at 10:30 PM last night. Figured that during the morning hours would be a good time. Went to bed and woke up expecting to utilize REX and s'prise you fellows. NOT! Still downloading at 71% now, close to 3000 MB of the 4.1 that is in the show. Currently download time has dropped to 29.5 kB/sec fro the 393 kB/sec when I started last night. servers are BUSY!

I am sure all of you are downloading as I type. :costumes:

slow....

maybe they will offer a CD version - downloads that large can be problematic.

I also await screenshots and unofficial FPS reviews :ernae:

Don't feel bad guys, I have written off simming today awaiting this download, which now will be another 13 hours at the 10 to 12 K/sec speed.

I'm at 74%, so I shall remain patient if I have to leave the tower running yet another night and a day! It's the price we pay for wanting it "first"!

Hi Bill,

It does seem odd, I thought they were putting this on 9 mirror sites.

Maybe someone went home and forgot to leave e'm running:costumes:

Mine dropped to 1K but seems to be settled at about 4 to 5K

I'd be happy if I could just got the flightsim store page to load, it just times out. This may be one product that's worth leaving for a few days till the dust settles.

LOL...boy it looks like they underestimated the amount of people willing to download gigabytes immediately. Both realextreme forums and flightsimstore are unreachable. :costumes:

Same here. I saw some user screens over at avsim and they didn't look like anything in the REX site! In addition the clouds in one shot were upside down.

I guess the FSx engine just poses some limitations or maybe it just works differentlyy depending on your system.

I think it is 4.04GB plus the download installer. A DVD is available, I think, for $8 USD more. Correct me if I am wrong.

Now 12 hours since I purchased Rex,
Still not fully downloaded, 1/3rd only of data file 7 in the last six hours and still No 8 to go.

Has anyone managed to download it yet, and get it running.

Okay, it took a night and a day to download, nearly an hour to read what it downloaded, 30 minutes installing, 6 minutes loading any texture format. Was it worth it.

You bet your arse! :friday::ernae:

I figured on the slow download, took it for granted all servers would be pushed to the max. With such a large download, I expected the installation time. the only real complaint is the initial loading time for any one theme, average six minutes. Once you pick a theme and your selection of cloud textures (I used the downsized 2048 textures), runway surfaces, sun, water textures, ocean texture, tropical water texture, etc. and download the textures to FSX, you're good to go.

Here's the brilliant thing, once your REX textures are loaded you can use default weather settings, even Active Sky in lieu of REX's active weather engine, and still get the REX graphics. Like REP, you have to back up your existing textures before ever installing any REX textures.

I'll let the screens do the talking. It is well worth your investment if you can patiently wait the process gents. I expect when orders slow down, download times will increase also. Also, in any mode I tried, there was no hit on frame rates. I may even reset the cloud texture to the whooping 4096 X 4096.

The runway textures are gorgeous and most impressive in rain or snow.

now that is the kind of product endorsement I can relate to. will wait a few days/week for the initial download fervour to dissipate a bit and will then treat myself to an early Xmas present (I'm sure I deserve it)

Two days now and still not downloaded, this is :bs:

Gets to file 5 and speed drops to 3k sec, another 70 bloody hours.
It's cost me more in electricity than I paid for it.
