Greetings all, I hope someone can point me in the right direction. I am looking for the sound file for the F4U Corsair that had the whistling sound when you exceeded a certain airspeed. I am sure I had it, but searching my files is not producing the desired result :confused:

Just found this in one of the older posts if it helps - "Btw Jag that dive sound file for the F4U is called corwind.wav by H.Boltz (aka:KRAZY) 11/9/2000."

Hi kwb737, thanks but no luck. I d/l that "Screaming Corsair" file but it's basically a super performance version with massive speed and firepower, no sound effects etc. Thanks anyway.

The WWII plane that the Japanese called "The Whistling Death"....
I do not think this sound is replicated in any Corsair sounds I've heard.
This is perhaps the one you are looking for (internal sound CorWind.wav file with F4U downloads):

If you get stuck for a sound file, just call via PM. I have one that works well. Below is the segment you paste into the Corsair 'Sound' folder. The wind sound file it calls in this case is called "wind3.wav". This sound file goes anywhere into the main CFS2 'Sound' folder.

[WIND_SOUND]
filename=wind3
minimum_volume=6000
maximum_volume=8500
minimum_rate=0.60
maximum_rate=0.90
minimum_speed=40.0
maximum_speed=120.0

Yeh, I'm sorry about that. I tried to delete my post later because I realized it wasn't what you were looking for. I know what your talking about though because I had it at one time. Very cool and adds a lot. It's around here somewhere.

Before I knew about that place, I used to visit and download stuff. Later, I wanted to get rid of all that stuff and ran into a few problems. I think he MIGHT do a little tweak to items and then call them his own. I never go to that site, If he has something you need, I'm pretty sure you will find it elsewhere. He did.:ernae:

ADDENDUM;
I think that this is what you may be looking for. It is from Ghost Ponys site here; http://theghostfiles.org/CFS2p3.htm
Go down the page and in the right hand side/column look for Corsair Sounds A&B They have the corsair dive sound in them

Excellent thank you Fibber, I have downloaded those files. Apologies to Discus and mariereid, I wasn't aware that other site pirated files without permission, I won't be going back there. :redf:

To all,

I know that AB Squad is a piracy site and that many of us (including myself) are strongly opposed to it, but bear in mind that some people who are asking this question are doing so because they are genuinely unaware of the site's reputation.

While you can strongly advise against it, make sure to keep the response civil and unintimidating.

Thanks,

OOPS!!!

The Corsair sound (CorWind.wav) showed up at that site with a google search. I had forgotten about the pirate reputation of the site owner. I'll remember next time. Sorry to all for any inconvenience that my forgetfulness caused.

Once you get the CorWind.wav installed, cut'n'paste this into the "sound.cfg" file

[WIND_SOUND]
filename=corwind
minimum_volume=6500
maximum_volume=12000
minimum_rate=1.0
maximum_rate=2.40
minimum_speed=190.0
maximum_speed=420.0

The "growl" starts at little over cruise speed, and "howls" like a banshee at dive speed.

Enjoy.
