Hey All,

It was 1965 and my first year in 4-H. I was in the Blue Ribbon Boosters Club near Red Lodge Montana. I took Photography and Forestry.

This was the make and model of my first camera ever. Cost $13.00 and with another $11.00 in film and developing and a photo-display page. That was my total investment my first year in photography. I don't know why I don't have the pictures I took - my sister found my 4-H record book.

What did you start out with?

I started with a Brownie Automatic, automatic by the fact that it advanced the film. :>) No where near as exotic as that Sta-lite you have there Ed. My first good camera was a 35-mm SLR Ashia (sp) Pentax with screw-on, not bayonet, lens. My brother got that for me in Korea in the Advanced Retarded Mercenary Yard.

Nice composition, brings back memories.

Nice post Ed... It's great that there are still photographers that hold true to the old ways of makin' pictures. I'm a young guy that is fully aware of the technology around him. Canon EOS 300D "Digital Rebel" was my first camera. I fully support digital capture and processing techniques but like all dying arts anybody that still tries to shoot film and develop it holds a high status in my book.

My first ever camera was a Kodak Pocket Instamatic - Then when my father purchased a Nikkormat SLR, he gave me his older Mamiya-Sekor SLR...

I remember using my father's Olympus back in the '90s, but can't find any pictures of it. Started out with my current camera, two and a half years ago. Hasn't let me down and still love it. When I upgrade I'll keep it as it's a nice back-up body really :)...

Zorki 4K ('72) ->Ricoh XR1 ('78) -> MX ('82) -> MZ3 ('99) -> DS ('06) -> K7 ('10)

Gave the Ricoh to my father when I got the MX and it was stolen, but still got the rest gathering more or less dust......

I don't think the MZ3 was sold over the pond.
