http://library.avsim.net/sendfile.php?Location=AVSIM&Proto=file&ImageID=278312 File Description:
The Fiat C.R.42 was a single-seat fighter biplane which served primarily in Italy's Regia Aeronautica just before and during World War II. The aircraft was produced by the Turin firm, and also served, in smaller numbers, with the air forces of Belgium, Sweden and Hungary. With more than 1,800 built, it was the most widely produced Italian aircraft to take part in World War II. The Fiat C.R.42 was the last of the Fiat biplane fighters to see combat and represented the epitome of the type. RAF Intelligence praised its exceptional maneuverability, further noting that the plane was immensely strong. The Fiat C.R.42 made its combat debut with the Belgian Air Force, over Belgium on 10th May 1940. Complete aircraft, features the usual moving parts, such as all flight controls.

Package includes many different liveries (Regia Aeronautica/Belgian Air Force/Swedish Air Force/Hungarian Air Force). VC only. GMax Models and Skins by Manuele Villa & Italianwings, Flight dynamics, Handling notes and Tutorials by FSAviator, It also works (Tested) subject to some limitations within in FSX (NOT Acceleration). By Manuele Villa/MVG3D, January 2011.

Bloody handful landing it in a crosswind......LoL!!! Wonderful, I love it. I've just had a good shakedown with the Cr.42. (Circuits, acrobatics,stalls.....shunts...)

I cannot imagine the hours you fellows have put into this, and I have nothing but compliments and thanks to Manuele and the entire team. The visuals, the physics, the noise.....all just amazing. If anybody wants to know what the last FIAT biplane was all about, here it is. Climb aboard!!

Thanks so much for this generous gift, fellows. I'm off to collect bugs in my teeth, and master the crosswinds...!!

PS...compliments above and beyond the exquisite flight model to FSAviator, the reading material is superb, and can truly place you in the cockpit. Thank you!!!

I was blessed by Manuelle during the building of this package to receive many versions of the plane as it progressed. The first package he sent, which was "far from finished" in his words, was stunning. Each subsequent package got better and better. Seeing the package in final form....leaves me speechless.

The package is available right from our own library here on SOH, on AVsim.com and on Flightsim.com.

Hi,

Reference to this message:

The hammering sound heard with the plane sitting on the ground was due to a touch down sound being used for the first ground roll section. Open the sound config and swap in this section for the original.

[GROUND_ROLL]
filename=usroll1
minimum_volume=6000
maximum_volume=10000
minimum_speed= 10
maximum_speed= 60
minimum_rate=0.8
maximum_rate=1.6

I will get back to work on a sound package for the Cr.42 shortly. I was working on a sound package for the plane, but real life issues took priority and all serious sim work stopped for a while. Now that things are on the normalish side of things again, I can get back to work.

Yes indeed the hammering sound is not more there when engine running or not.
Anyways it stay a hammering sound in differents phases of flight:
when running at take off and also a hammer sound reapears when the engine is pushed in high RPM's
This is a video for show the phenomena:

Hope those small sounds problems will (or can) be solved in the future .. as it's really a fantastic model.

W O N D E R F U L L !!!!!

Took her for a spin yesterday. What a wonderful bird! Needs a bit of practice for takeoff and landing, but once in the air, she's really perfect and quiet easy to fly.

Been flying the CR42 a lot in CFS3. The flight characteristics seem pretty close between the two. The cockpit of the FS9-version is absulutely stunning. The details!! It's a pity this can't be imported into CFS3.

But the textures seem to fit, did a short test with the Swedish skin yesterday. Just needs to be converted into ".dds".

Thanks a lot to Manuele and his team!!!!!!!

Cheers

Ciao Manuele

Funny things happen sometimes.

Lately I was searching information about an Italian CR42 which landed and was interned in Switzerland, at Magadino airfield in 1943.

I already knew a few bits about this story, but this time I found a site which stated exact which plane it was, the pilot who flew it and they even had a small photo of it, parked at Magadino. I then tried to find a better photo of the plane, but no available.

When browsing through the folders of your CR42, I was more than surprised to find out that you included exactly this plane!

It's the night fighter CR42 CN 234-3 (MM9128) flown by Capitano Mario Anselmi.

In case you don't know it, you can find the story of his (and two of his comrades) escape here:

http://www.warbird.ch/contento/Berichte/Landungen/TI/FluchtindieSchweiz/tabid/746/language/de-CH/Default.aspx

It's in German, but here's a (very) short translation:
After the armistice, on the 10 of September 1943 13.30, Capt. Mario Anselmi took off from Venegono in a Fiat CR42CN with black paint over the insigna, hading for Bellinzona. He the decided to land at Magadino because of the longer runway there. He then landed at 13.50 without problems and was interrogated by Swiss intelligence officers.

Two hours later, a Saiman 202M with two persons took off from Venegono to land in Bellinzona half an hour later.

All three Italian airmen were interned in Switzerland until the end of the war.

The CR42 and the Saiman were given back to Italy in 1947.

Thanks again for that great little plane you made!
