While much of what slithers out of Hollywood is fiction, occasionally they slip up...

Looks like the Modelers took ....

Me 262, Meteor, or A-10 engine model parts....

and ...

stuck on wings of C-123...

Either way..........looks like they are way too big.......and would break the wings off

i can comment on this as i do have some knowledge on this particular topic ..that my friends, is 1980īs Hollywood rendition of a Soviet transport that was used in the film Red Dawn as scenery prop but the scenes were either A: cut or B: you can barely see it since itīs dark, it did have the props on it, but once production of Die Hard 2 started, they were long gone so it became a jet aircraft (which incidentally in the movie, was escorted by a pair of F-4Eīs portraying Migīs on what was the 1st time a movie had digital effects.)..
You canīt blame them for trying, back then it was close to impossible to find soviet equipment at rock bottom prices for movies..

Best regards

Just shots from escort sequence......

In Die Hard 2... Did they say Migs???

Generic South American/Central America's/Caribnean?? General.....

Something about ....there goes our escorts???

Is it plausable that one of those countries may have been sold a F-4 or two??

But....

Yes ....It kills the effect when you see military equipment shown/substituted.

For me........its those stock hollywood Pershing tanks .....subsituted for every OPFOR enemy tanks in 1960's, 1970's, and 1980's military movies (Battle of the Bulge, Patton, Big Red One.....etc.)

Yup..in Iron Eagle II, F-4īs portrayed Mig-29īs..go figure (1988)...
I guess the guys at Die Hard II thought they could get away with it..
I think Red Dawn was the only USA vs Soviet themed movie back then that actually invested in "soviet equipment" to make the story more believable..for instance, there was a Yak-38 Forger prop in the movie, used in what was believed then soviet FOBīs operated (based at the same time by the Afghanistan experience)and most of the props developed there ended up in other movies (Rambo III, Die Hard II, 2 James Bond movies) and some even on Airwolf TV series..

YC-15. What's left of one of the prototypes is at the Pima Air and Space Museum here in Tucson.

If your ever in Phoenix.................

And you have some free time................

And your some degree of Air and Space Enthusiast.........

You have to take the trip down to Tucson, AZ ........

Pima Air Museum and the Boneyard.......

It's the classic desert experience..........

and if you haven't been in the southwest......

Saguaro Cactus.........

John Wayne Style ..........

take the trip ......

1 hour.....maybe hour and a half drive from Phoenix

Note: Travel advisory for the southwest along US/Mexico Border.....if unfamiliar with the area......precaution in isolated areas or when traveling alone at night or stranded.........
