Matthias Neusinger, the person responsible for the FS Recorder module, has just given the FS9 and FSX community a fantastic Christmas present. He's just released the beta version of FS Recorder 2.1. It's still freeware, and it can be downloaded at the FS Recorder website.

Because there are many new features in this release, I'd call it a major upgrade. There are many new camera controls, including the ability to adjust the camera focus location, which should give flight sim video makers a whole new bag of tools to work with. You'll be seeing some stunning camera moves that we only used to dream about just a short time ago.

The ability to modify the recorder files in order to create entire formations of aircraft has been greatly improved. The ability to directly add position and time offsets to aircraft has been greatly simplified. You no longer have to mess converting files back and forth between FRC files and text files. You could do that in version 2.0, but the ability to put in both time and position offsets were very limited compared to what you can do now.

There are several new features added to change the way that you play back and interact with the recorder files.

All these new features are documented in the user manual. Some of the old ways of using the tools don't work anymore, so it's a good idea to at least review the manual before diving into a new project.

There are both FS9 and FSX versions of the new FS Recorder module.

This is a good thing. Enjoy :jump:
