Anybody know how to get Vald's Antonov 2 to start in FSX?

The manual says to advance the trottle above 30% on the UPRT gauge. That has not worked for me. I have also tried a number of tweaks from web searches. No dice.
It works fine in FS9 so it must be a portover issue.
