I'm on the fence with this one, read in an review that this bird was meant to be getting an update to include the appropriate cockpit, it currently uses the default Lear 45 pit. The article was dated 06 July 2010, anyone heard more recent?
If it had a 23 pit I wouldn't hesitate but theres something just wrong about flying a classic without steam guages...

Xtreme prototypes Lear 20 series is vastly better and just got a nice update. No comparison between the two.

cheers,

The solution to your dilemma is to get both and install the VC from the Xtreme Prototypes Lear-24 in place of the aliased L45 , the VC is done with 100% Modeled 3D steam gauges and would take about three min to install.
The 23 and 24 have nearly identical cockpit configurations though you might find a few extra windows in the cabin.

Is there any sort of auto pilot with the xtreme series? Looks like a great vatsim plane but I would need some sort of AP (heading and alt hold most important) to fly long distances.

The Autopilot is a bit different than later models in that the VS setting is done on a gauge and they don't lock to a GPS but were VOR to VOR , or set your heading as you progress through the flight, and were IFR capable, it works fine for really fast flights in the 1200 NM range.

Thanks Chuck, didnt realise it was that simple to swap VC's around. Only recently got back into FS after a seven year gap. Until I saw the 23 and the CS F/A-18 I didnt even know it was possible. :jump:

Its requires you change the alias= lines of the .cfg in the Model and panel folder to the lear 24 filefolders names , in this case quite easy to do.

Well bought them both this morning, not getting anywhere however.
I've moved te Lear 24s interior mdl into the lear 23 edited the 23's mdl cfg to rout to the 24's interior mdl and swapped the 23's panel cfg for the 24's. When I load up however there is no VC.
Am I missing something?

You might need to add a line to the 23's texture folder .cfg to direct it to the base texture folder for the lear 24 or copy the bitmaps from the 24 to the 23's texture folder

put the whole 24 panel .cfg in the 23 panel folder and put the 24's interior model in the 23's model folder with the name of that interior model entered in the 23's model.cfg .

replace panel cfg. - check
copy 24's interior mdl to 23's model folder - check
redirect 23's mdl cfg to 24 panel mdl - check
24 bitaps copied to 23 texture folder - check

still no joy.

interior=XP_Model_24_v1r0_interior pasted in .mdl cfg?

Yup.

textures moved, model moved, panel cfg replaced and model cfg updated, still no luck

Just tested the theory myself , took five min to install the 24 interior in the default lear.
I needed to change the eyepoint to actually see the interior behind me though , might be the missing link .

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but I'm considering doing this as well, buying the Xtreme Prototypes 20 series and the Franz Luftfahrt Learjet 23 and putting the Xtreme panel in the Lear 23. Does anyone have a full step by step on how to do this? Rumor is there was also an updated FDE file for the Lear 23. Anyone know if that's true, and if so where it can be found?

Thanks for any help...:ques: :mixedsmi:

Thanks,

I / Xtreme Prototypes are not doing one, and after having swapped out the VC in the default Lear 45 with the one from our 20 Series i have a close match , off by one block of gauges out of position , close enough for rock and roll.
